Just would like to know if someone can confirm that?

A friend of mine has submitted a TM 30 at Chiang Mai immigration the day he is arrived to Thailand but after a few weeks he travelled to pattaya for 5 days, he stayed in a hotel over there. He is going to go back to Chiang Mai next week, to the same address submitted on the TM 30 receipt. The staff that registered the TM 30 for him said that is not necessary to submit a new TM 30 if you travel to another city in Thailand and you go back to Chiang Mai to the previous address. He will need the TM 30 receipt to extend his tourist visa of 30 days more and then he will do a few border bounce. Does Chiang Mai immigration updated this rule about TM 30?

Suggest prior to going to immigration to obtain the 30 day extension ask the staff at accommodation to make a TM30.

Have them provide screenshot of the filing.

Ok, however he already has the TM 30 receipt from the accommodation in CM. Can he just use that one without going to the immigration office to update it? As he came back to that same accommodation

Update!

In case you need to extend your tourist visa or visa exemption at Chiang Mai immigration and you will also have to do a border bounce before extension is expiring, you just have to update the TM 30 at the office , in case you go back to the same address you stayed before. Just bring the TM 30 receipt and that's it. Very easy

I need to clarify - must you update the TM30 at the Chiangmai Immigration office, or "just bring the receipt"?

So, no need to spend half a day at the TM30 registration behind the main CM Immigration building?

It's a crap shoot. But you'll need your receipt regardless. They might make you get their form, they might accept what you have. Probably depends on the officer.
