From the wording, maybe I am as confused as your wife is.  Am I reading correctly that whatever money she gets (let me assume that could mean, she knows someone is going to give her money and you will have no claim on it! But did she mean something else??

He's trying to be funny while insulting his wife.  He got half it right!

Even if I don't feed my dog for a month, he'll still get it from outside and come into my house all the time! You have no idea what a dog's soul is...:cheesy:

Neither does a dog.

1. I do not think you two are "legally"  married (done at Amphur)

2. I assume the land is in her name on a land title ?

3. Even if married..... thai law is specific in that any assets previous to marriage belong

   100%  to the individual   ( any acquired later are joint property )

most thais can at least know this much .   maybe yours is "special ? "

 maybe yours is "special ? "Or She's Different ??

So my wife thinks she's coming into a few million Baht (almost no chance).

And wanted me to sign a document stating any money she gets is hers, and I have no claim on it.

I say, "sure, no problem", and she brings over a notepad for me to write out the agreement.

I write "any money you get and half belongs to me" she tells me to sign and date it to make it official.

She asks me to read out what I wrote, and I read out "any money you get belongs entirely to you"

She walks off happily clutching the document to keep somewhere safe .........

You can't fix stupid!

You should have had her sign it too and keep a copy and maybe even have a couple of family members witness it.  You should have also asked for something today in return.  10-1hr massages, a solo vacation, a new truck, a month of no relatives coming in the house or something.

Don't worry MLM cults normally don't last that long.  She'll ask to borrow 50,000B tomorrow to get to Executive Level and in 3 months when the boss goes to jail, you can remind her she still owes you 50 Gs and show her who the real boss is.

Bit harsh there, I prefer to believe many men are delusional.

But it's a peculiar delusion that only affects feminised western men.

You don't get Muslims, Indians, Africans or South Americans wanting to hand over all their assets to women they have sex with.

No, instead they'll be beaten, stoned, raped and made to disappear with some of those. Treating a woman as an equal doesn't make you feminized but a man, as boys never learn any other ways, and some cultures are always looking at women as objects and second class to be used and basically slaves. Misogyny isn't a positive trait.

Well, let's face it, you look at all women as narcissists.

You've ranted on about it often enough.

Which I'd say is a particularly nasty form of misogyny.

How do you get that when all I ever said was this Thai one is? If you paid attention to my many posts, you would see I look at women as equals, and have always treated them well, which is the opposite of using, narcissism and misogyny. Assuming comes on this forum in a few here.

I read your posts, obviously not the book length posts, and they all say the same thing.

Namely, nothings ever your fault Fred ............

Well, at least she's past the age for having affaris, so you're safe there.

Bad choices were my fault. Treating them well was what I did. A person doesn't read constantly for 30 years books and articles on relationships if he's meaning to hurt. If all my posts say the same things, which some do, especially how I feel about women and children, then you shouldn't make such comments.

I've never really worried what they do when out of my sight.

That path would lead to depression and madness.

I've never viewed any Asian women as my property, they are free to do what they want to do with whomsoever they wish.

And I enjoy that same freedom.

We were married two weeks after meeting.

Valentine's day.

oh, well I had thought you didn't have the Amphur marriage certificate.  hmmm

so.... if this thread is truthful (not just a wind up) ,  then the situation is interesting indeed.    LEGALLY,  i THINK  that if the property title was IN HER NAME before your marriage then it would be legally hers only .  Doesn't matter if the land value has appreciated or not imo.     BUT,  if she inherited the land or if her name was added after you were married,  then it would also be 50% yours , shared property. ( i am playing at lawyer here) .

Of course..... this is Thailand and this stuff is complcated at times... more so when a farang is involved.

Not wholly correct.

Property and assets acquired by inheritance or gift remain personal property (Sin suan tua) and are not shared. See CCC section 1471.

Thanks terry.....  that does seem to make sense .    if this source is correct ( no reason to doubt it) .... this seems to confirm what you say

Of course, if the man (or in the odd case the woman) , works and makes a lot of money and new assets during their time together.... that is shared property.    hmmmm

Section 1470. Properties of husband and wife except in so far as they are set aside as Sin Suan Tua, are Sin Somros.

Section 1471. Sin Suan Tua consists of:

  1. property belonging to either spouse before marriage;
  2. property for personal use, dress or ornament suitable for station in life, or tools necessary for carrying on the profession of either spouse;
  3. property acquired by either spouse during marriage through a will or gift;
  4. Khongman.
