Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet will travel to Nice, France next week to take part in the Third United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC3), signalling the country’s growing role in global climate diplomacy.

At the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron and UN Secretary-General António Guterres, Mr Hun Manet will lead a high-level delegation from Monday to Wednesday, joined by First Lady Pich Chanmony and senior ministers including Deputy Prime Minister Prak Sokhonn.

The conference, themed “Accelerating Action and Mobilising Partnerships”, will focus on ocean-based climate solutions, biodiversity, and sustainable development. Mr Hun Manet is scheduled to deliver Cambodia’s National Statement during the General Debate, outlining the country’s priorities for ocean governance and climate resilience.

Bilateral meetings with other world leaders are also expected, as Cambodia looks to strengthen ties and reaffirm its commitment to international cooperation.

The trip underscores Phnom Penh’s continued backing of Sustainable Development Goal 14 – Life Below Water – and its pledge to safeguard marine ecosystems amid mounting global environmental challenges.
