Community Python Invades Warehouse in Central Chai Nat, Shocks Workers While Devouring Chicken

A dramatic encounter unfolded in the heart of Chai Nat province on the night of 13 June, when a large python slithered into a warehouse and devoured a chicken in full view of stunned workers. Volunteers from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation in Chai Nat were called to a construction supply warehouse and workers’ dormitory at house number 187, Moo 3, Chai Nat subdistrict, after receiving a report of a large snake entering the premises. Upon arrival, the rescue team discovered a reticulated python, over two metres in length, coiled beneath a stack of cement blocks and roof tiles near the workers’ accommodation. Using snake-catching tools, the team cautiously cleared the area and managed to clamp the snake’s head before carefully extracting it from its hiding place. Onlookers could see the snake’s visibly distended belly. It was later confirmed that the python had just swallowed a full-grown hen. One worker recounted the moment, explaining that he was about to leave his room when he heard a dog barking frantically. Upon investigating, he witnessed the snake tightly coiled around the chicken before swallowing it whole. He immediately contacted the rescue team, who arrived to safely remove the reptile. The python was later secured in a sack and released back into the wild. Local residents, though alarmed, were equally fascinated by the incident, especially the fact that the snake entered house number 187. With the next Thai lottery draw approaching, many took note of the house number, believing the snake’s unexpected visit could bring good fortune. Fire Fire Breaks Out at Pattaya Sauna
Picture courtesy of Amarin A fire broke out at approximately 15:00, on 14 June, at a sauna located at the end of Soi 5, near Yinyom Beach in Jomtien, Chonburi province. Thick black smoke and flames were seen billowing from the premises. Initial reports indicate the fire ignited inside the sauna complex while it was operating at full capacity. Witnesses described the scene, with tourists, both Thai and foreign, hurrying to escape the blaze. Some brave individuals attempted to contain the flames using fire extinguishers and buckets of water, while others smashed windows to allow the smoke to dissipate. One local resident, 44-year-old Mr Montri, who witnessed the incident, recounted:“I saw heavy smoke pouring from the building and rushed over. The fire spread too quickly for us to do anything meaningful to stop it.” Pattaya fire crews responded swiftly, deploying several fire engines and several emergency personnel. It reportedly took over 45 minutes to bring the flames under control. There have been no official reports of injuries. Do you watch muay thai?
Perhaps. I was new to Thailand at the time and although it was mostly good experiences I encountered just a little bit too much of the "you pay, you pay, you farang you have money big" attitude. It sticks in the craw. At the time the Pacific Peso was only buying 22 baht so 1k was a lot of money. I was paying 80 baht per night for a hovel on Soi Rambuttri and large beer Changs (original recipe) were only 40 baht so it seemed like a king's ransom to me at the time. Anyway their loss, I went to Nana Plaza and eked out my meagre budget in the go-gos then took the bus back home for 3.50 baht 😂 -
