Re-gaining Non-Imm-O based on Mariage from abroad, after the old has expired.

Greetings!

I kindly would like to ask for advice:

  1. German passport holder, married to Thai wife, seasoned 400k in Thai Bank account, all papers in place and order
  2. My old Non-O expired in April 2025, I could not renew because I had to leave Thailand in Mid April 2025
  3. I want to travel back to Thailand end of July 2025 and then renew my Non-O visa

Questions:

  1. Can I enter as Tourist and then apply (together with my wife) at the local Amphur?
  2. Or do I need to apply for Non-O Visa or any other Visa from abroad before?

My concern is, that entry as Tourist may be denied since I have entered Thailand too many times.
Unfortunately I am in West Africa and so can not just stop by a Thai Embassy.

Thank you much for advice in advance. Cheers and best.

Your permission of stay expired.

By "renew my Non O" you really mean obtain a new Non O.

That can be done via visa exempt entry or obtaining e-Visa from where you are currently.

You mention West Africa. If eVisa not possible suggest you just enter Thailand visa exempt.

Explain circumstances if questioned.

Wife's id copy marriage handy.

Should not be required.

Clearly understood and agreed. But "Obtaining a new Non O" can be done at the local immigration in Udon Thain? (So far I always got my Visum at Savannaketh and extension in Udon Thani.)

As German I am eligible to 30 days stay and Visa exemption, right? Main question: would it be any problem/concern that I have entered Thailand before this year (based on Non-O).

If I apply for the E-Visa, then which one shall I chose given that I am exempt for 30 days? Non-O is not available as E-Visa, is it?
(I hold PR in Nigeria, so I could apply for any E-Visa -- but no way I travel to Abuja for this.)

Best and cheers

I have all papers for a full Non-O application with me. 🤣

Just in case: I would apply in Berlin/Germany for a Non-O based on marriage, how long will it take to receive it? (And sorry to ask those basic questions, it has been more than 20 years for me doing anything other than Savanaketh + Extensions.)

You have to be in the country you are applying from.  So to apply from Germany you would have to go there.  You can apply in Nigeria, should be the same process but nothing can be guaranteed, why not just try?, there's nothing to lose.

You can obtain a Non O marriage at UT immigration.

If there is an issue from UT go to Vientiane and obtain eVisa.

Issued VERY quickly

You would use a TM87 form along with other requirements such as financials etc.

The e-Visa platform is pretty much worldwide now.

With German pp visa exempt entry currently 60 days.

If you explain your intention to obtain Non O marriage in Thailand then that should be sufficient.

Try the eVisa path.

As an afterthought. No idea flights/routes from Africa to Bangkok.

Just be aware that the airline at departure may require onward if flying visa exempt to Thailand.

Thanks for the reminder. I know about the necessary Return flight and the 20k THB in cash requirement.
