Thai Airways International (THAI) has announced plans to relist on the Thai stock exchange in early August, following the conclusion of its rehabilitation process. This decision comes after the Central Bankruptcy Court approved the airline's request to end its court-supervised restructuring on Monday, marking a significant milestone in the company's recovery journey.

The request to exit rehabilitation was submitted on April 28, and approval was granted after THAI demonstrated impressive compliance with its rehabilitation plan. The airline reported earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (Ebitda) of 40.31 billion baht from April last year to March this year, well above the minimum requirement of 20 billion baht.

Headed by THAI director Piyasvasti Amranand, the airline's rehabilitation committee has spent the past four years meticulously restructuring the organization. Key accomplishments include expanding flight routes, optimizing the fleet, enhancing service and passenger cabins, upgrading digital systems, boosting revenue generation, and streamlining costs. Financial strength was bolstered by converting liabilities into equity and issuing additional common shares to shareholders and staff.

As a testament to these efforts, THAI's financial position has dramatically improved. Piyasvasti reported a shareholder equity surplus of 55.22 billion baht by March 31, a significant turnaround from a deficit of 127.23 billion baht reported at the end of 2020. Additionally, THAI has consistently recorded operational profits every quarter since 2023 and is among the top three airlines in terms of operating margins for the past two quarters.

The airline's liabilities have also seen a substantial reduction, decreasing from approximately 400 billion baht to the current figure of 95.50 billion baht, indicating robust financial health.

With these achievements, Thai Airways is poised to return to public trading on the Stock Exchange of Thailand, signaling a new chapter for the national carrier. This relisting not only reflects THAI’s successful turnaround but also its readiness to compete in the aviation market with renewed vigor and financial stability.
