I can understand why those sending their pension every month may need it quickly when they are counting on it for living expenses. I have never needed money in seconds, so I guess that's why I didn't understand. I have never experienced a 4 to 5 day delay in wire transfers either. For example, I recently made two wire transfers, one to Bangkok Bank for $2,400 minus $6.00 incoming fee, it arrived the next day, and the other was to SCB for $3,700 minus $9.25 incoming fee, it arrived the same day. My US bank doesn't change me an outgoing fee, so I find it just as cost effective to use wire transfers and send to my USD accts, then convert whenever I want.

. I have never needed money in seconds,....You Obviously don't get a U.K. ( Pittance ) of a Pension then M8 !!

I always wanted to ask, why do some people need ultra-fast Wise transfers to their Thai bank accts? I'm just trying to understand why some say they need money from overseas in seconds vs. next day arrival. One could simply use their Thai bank ATM card to get money, and when their balance starts to get low, they could just send more money. Is it because some people let their bank balances get too low before sending money? Just asking...

Gotta say, this is what I do.

Transfers from. Wise too my Bangkok Bank account now take 24hrs. They used to be instant but no problem, just remember to send 24hrs before you need it.

In my opinion it's not worth the hassle of opening another bank account just for this minor irritation

There's Only Money in My Wise Account for the 3 Weeks AFTER I've put my PITTANCE of a Pension in,But it's ALL Been spent after that, So for the Final Week before I get Paid again,There is NOW'T Left to bring over.....

Just bear in mind that the maximum transfer to Krung Sri is very low (50,000 baht).  For Bangkok Bank it's 2 million.

If 50,000 THB per day isn't enough, you may need to split the amount over several days if you need a larger amount.

Currently I'm with Bangkok Bank and their transfer time over the last 6 months at least appears to have slowed down a bit. It's probably not a huge issue but I thought I'd open an account with Krungsri because transfers to them seem almost immediate most of the time.

Happy to hear any opinions and recommendations as part of this. Pitfalls accounts or possibly other options that might be better suited. Thanks

I’m Kasikorn my wise transfers hit my Kasikorn within minutes however if you do it over a weekend for some reason it’s not instant so I always do it in the week days  the other thing I do is to have money sitting in my wise account all the time

Wise says the most I can send to krungsri is a measly 2k baht

Where does it say that?

Just a few days ago I sent 41,000 THB to my Krungsri account. (and it arrived in seconds)

Why not?

I have a Krungsri account.

Many of the current concerns is them stopping their computer online browser login service, and hence requiring one to use a smartphone for all transactions.

However they also have a constraint in their smartphone online app T&C that those older than age-70 are not allowed to activate a new online app on their phone with Krungsri (I may have the wording not precise).

Which means those > age-70 with Krungsri are back to using cash transactions, like the old days ... or go to the bank to have bank-to-bank transfers made. Like the old days.

.

I have accounts with almost every bank in Thailand, and i have to admit that Krungsri is the only one where facial recognition works.

Al the other banks it is really hit or miss, with miss the majority of times

I must have hit a sore nerve for someone who down thumbed my question. I still don't understand why someone cannot keep enough in their Thai bank to use for every day use, then send more money with a next day arrival. I guess I will never understand how some people manage their money where they need to get it from overseas in seconds.

refridgerator or water pump crapped out ?  car needs quick expensive repair,  dropped their eyeglasses  and they broke , need them asap...

urgent fix needed to stop leak and correct the (not quality ) roof install

could be tons of reasons ..... who knows ? ..  or cares

Provide evidence of this nonsense please?

Thank you. So what you said in your 3rd paragraph @oldcpu is indeed nonsense.

Well I'm 79 and my account is still working just fine. I was even able switch the app to a new phone awhile back.

So, next day arrival isn't good enough to cover those types of expenses? If one isn't able to keep any emergency funds in their Thai bank acct, then it would be wise to have a credit card to fall back on, or a foreign bank debit card to get money from ATM if it's truly needed in seconds.

Since last summer, it was taking up to six days to transfer money from the USA to Thailand using Wise
When I wrote to Wise and asked him why they told me to cancel the app and open their new app and now it transfers within an hour

I have a krungsri acct for years for my retirement extensions.

I dont do wise transfers as those are inter-banked as Krungsri is not 1 of the 3 banks Wise uses in country.  I believe although they do process quickly even with wise.

I only do swift wire transfers which generally arrive the next day , barring the weekend restriction in the US on transfers by swift at origin banks. Never had one take more than 2 days.

I send the money in USD and convert on arrival at the bank and never get raped on currency conversion.

Im on the monthly deposit method so it important they arrive with proper coding on the 12 month statements, which swift transfers always do. They will print the credit deposit statements for each on request.

Easy bank to deal with. And they are a real bank not a money mover like wise or others.  They are also rated a very stable and profitable bank among the choices in thailand.  Just my opinion.

I have Krunsri for immigration as well, and they are IMO by far the most convenient at Chiang Wattana.

What do you pay for the swift transfers? I'm with Chase and have to pay $45. I used to get them free...

When I tried to install their app on my phone it said that my phone was too old.

I am certainly not going to buy a new phone just to comply with their system.

I will take my money elsewhere

I too use Bangkok Bank for my Wise transfers that are now taking 3 or 4 days to complete a transaction, not really a big issue but can be annoying. Been with the bank 20 years and no problems other than this. I asked Wise why this was happening and their response was that some banks was slowing the process although I notice that Wise holds onto the money for nearly 12 hours before sending to the bank. I decided last week to reopen a Kasikorn account that I closed a couple of years ago due to a security issue. The bank refused my application although I had all the usual required documentation stating I now needed a work permit and tax documents, I am retired so don’t have these, the bank staff apologised saying the new rules are causing a lot of difficulties for them. They suggested I went next door to the SCB bank which I did, very pleasant staff, they photocopied all my documents and said due to new rules they would have to check with their head office. Two days ago I received a phone call from SCB saying my new account had been approved and to call in to complete the details. I just felt it may be safer and easier to have two current accounts with different banks however I am not sure how quickly transfers through Wise will be completed, I will soon find out.
