A dramatic scene unfolded in central Pattaya on the afternoon of 23 June, during a bout of heavy rain, as a British man, who was not named by authorities, reportedly attempted to end his life by running barefoot into moving traffic.

The incident occurred on Second Road, near Soi 11, where the man was seen behaving erratically and deliberately dashing in front of vehicles, apparently hoping to be struck. Fortunately, traffic was congested at the time and moving slowly, preventing any injuries or collisions.

Local police from Pattaya City Police Station, assisted by vigilant bystanders, quickly intervened to prevent any injuries. Officers found the man appearing highly intoxicated, speaking incoherently and engaging in bizarre behaviour, including rain drinking water from a roadside drain and splashing it onto his face and body.

It took police around 15 minutes to calm the man and take him into custody. He was subsequently transported to a local hospital for psychological assessment.

Authorities say they are working with the British Embassy and relevant agencies to provide appropriate care and support for the individual.

No injuries were reported, and police praised the action of passers-by and first responders in preventing potential harm.

We're seeing 2 or 3 articles everyday now about foreigners in Thailand with mental health issues.

I have to watch day 5 of the first test match against India, that may have something to do with his behaviour, seen that before.
