"Revolutionise" ... more like "Confusionalise".

The level of "Confusional use," is directly proportional to the amount of cannabis you use.

This does not represent a revolution in patient care, what this represents is a historic betrayal on the part of the Thai government against mostly younger investors who have been invested billions upon billions in the industry and in dispensaries, with an unjustifiable sense of trust, and a hope that the government would back them on this.

This is a pox on the nation.

What "betrayal," they invested in a business that was illegal... cannabis was only decriminalised for medicinal purposes...not for recreational use...geez, how some of you don't understand, is it because you are affect by to much "smoke" and can't see the truth.

You are correct but what happened was it took on a life of it's own in the free market generating billions of baht for the economy. Sadly ideology (Thaksin) has prevailed over common sense.

One could argue this "free" market has actually cost Thailand more than it gained, but there's no stats to prove either way.

I have been a non smoker of Ganga for 25 years now. But, I have always believed that the war on drugs has been an absolute and abysmal failure, and fining and arresting people for possession or use of ganja is the epitome of stupidity and ignorance. Legalizing ganja for recreational use was a brilliant idea whether it was intended or not, and betraying the hopes and dreams of many who invested in the industry is a horrific and incredibly ignorant thing to do at this time.

For every shop that follows the law to the letter 10 will half azz go through the motions or ignore the new requirements all together.....The term Lazy Stoner was  coined for a reason...

Hyperactive stoner is more common or certainly just as common. Haven't you noticed that effect on many stoners?  I mean constant talking, fiddling around and doing stuff all the time? The lazy stoner is a bit of a cliché.  All those people running around Sudan murdering people are high on ganja; they never stop. And all the artists who in the past painted and sculptured feverishly were all dope heads. The only lazy ones I know come from America where the term was coined.

In fact a recent survey quoted in Newsweek suggested the idea of the lazy stoner was a myth.

Government is the disease. Cannabis is the cure.

New ministerial regulations (draft) open, criteria for permitting 'cannabis flower shops'

01 Jul 2025 19:28

The Ministry of Public Health drafts a ministerial regulation to strictly control the criteria for permitting "cannabis flower shops" which must be hospitals, drug stores, herbal shops, and traditional medicine shops.

Reporters reported that the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine recently drafted a ministerial regulation on permission to study, research, or export controlled herbs, or sell or process controlled herbs for trade (No. ..) B.E. ...., which is an amendment to the ministerial regulation on permission to study, research, or export controlled herbs, or sell or process controlled herbs for trade B.E. 2559. It is currently open for comments via the website www.law.go.th until July 12, 2025.
After that, it will be submitted to the meeting of the Committee for the Protection and Promotion of Traditional Thai Medicine Knowledge and submitted to the Minister of Public Health and submitted to the Cabinet for consideration. If the Cabinet accepts the draft, it will be sent to the Minister of Public Health to sign the ministerial regulation.
The gist of the draft ministerial regulation for comments from June 28 - July 12, 2025 is that those who wish to apply for a license to export, sell, or process controlled herbs (cannabis) for trade must comply with stricter additional criteria, methods, and conditions, including:

1. The business must be located in a place where the license applicant has ownership or possession rights or has received consent from the owner of that place for a period not less than the period of the license.

2. The establishment must have an effective odor and smoke elimination system to avoid causing annoyance or inconvenience to people in the vicinity.

3. The storage area for controlled herbs (cannabis) must be of an appropriate size, have storage equipment under appropriate temperature and humidity, avoid sunlight, and be sanitary to maintain quality. It must also be stored separately, not mixed with other things, and not in direct contact with the floor.

4. The business must be a hospital under the Hospital Act, a place of sale or a place of herbal products under the Herbal Products Act, a drug store under the Drug Act, or a place of work for traditional doctors under the Thai Traditional Medicine Profession Act, except in places where cultivation takes place.

5. The business must have at least one worker who has been trained by the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine at all times during business hours.

For those who have already received a license on the date this Ministerial Regulation comes into effect, they can continue to operate until their license expires. If they wish to renew their license, they must comply with this amended Ministerial Regulation.
Any action taken under the Ministerial Regulation on Permission to Study, Research, or Export Controlled Herbs, or to Sell or Process Controlled Herbs for Trade B.E. 2559 on the day before this Ministerial Regulation comes into effect must also be taken in accordance with this Ministerial Regulation.
Importantly, in cases where a licensee has previously had his license suspended, the licensor may consider not renewing the license.
Reporters reported that there are currently approximately 18,000 stores licensed to sell controlled herbs, cannabis buds. By the end of this year, approximately 12,000 stores will have their licenses expire and will need to apply for a new license.

the Department of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine (DTAM) has launched an official prescription form for medical cannabis, set to revolutionise patient care across the country.

Looks like the move of weed re-restriction   is pretty much like driven by the govt agency's economic interests.

When they got the power to issue the "prescription", it means their new revenue source.

Just like moving money from the civilian traders(cannabis shops) to them:

For another easy billions

Very Thai bureaucrats-like thinking.

I am not interesting in any drugs though.

Apparently GACP certification costs hundreds of thousands baht & it takes months to obtain approval.

I have been informed by some smaller growers that they will be going underground as certification costs are prohibitive.

Growing underground may  prove prohibitively expensive as well as that's usually where the roots go.

It's been reported that doctors uniforms and name badges

There will be a boom in TCM Practitioners

They have just managed to drown themselves in useless paperwork and they still don't benefit from having proper controls and taxation in hand,

farkwits.

As I said, they willing invested in an illegal business... It is irrelevant that "fining and arresting people for possession or use of ganja is the epitome of stupidity and ignorance," however much I agree... But currently the availability and use has, overall, not really help Thailand, we see not only the government highlight the negative impact, but also on Thai media, and our beloved ASEAN now, both in articles, and comments, thought we also see users bitching...

I haven't noticed this, but not arguing. Maybe it's the type of weed - I had some old-time Thai cannabis and it made the heat easier to deal with and I was more active, but most of the new stuff they grow just makes my mind sluggish.

Happy gangsters. If these new regulations are implemented they will be able to resume their underground business.

Constitutional Court rules 6-3: Paetongtarn removed from office, Cabinet dismissed.

Finally, the Constitutional Court ruled that the respondent’s status as a minister ended on July 1, 2025, when the court ordered the cessation of their duties, and the entire Cabinet was dismissed.

https://www.nationthailand.com/news/politics/40054701

So the ousted government from July 1, 2025 onwards has no authority to royal gazette anything.  The prescription etc was royal gazetted prior to this date but the later updates will have no relevance now.

What happens to the Dept of Thai Traditional and Alternative Medicine?  Will their funding now cease?

I dont think the weed shops give a rats azz about any rules or regulations...

It seems they will just carry on as usual, unless some one from the government carts off all their stock and puts a chain on their door.......I doubt even a single shop has ever seen a prescription...
