A dramatic fire engulfed seven electric golf carts at a well-known golf course in Pathum Thani province early morning on 4 July, causing significant damage but no injuries. Authorities are investigating the cause, with an electrical malfunction suspected.

The blaze broke out at around 05:30 at a golf cart charging station located at a golf club in Khlong Luang district. Police Lieutenant Theerasak Saentho, Deputy Investigation Officer of Khlong Luang Police Station, received the emergency call and quickly dispatched fire trucks and rescue team from Tha Khlong Municipality to the scene.

The fire erupted in a steel-framed, metal-roofed shelter measuring approximately 10 by 20 metres, which was being used as both a parking and charging area for the electric carts. Firefighters battled the flames for approximately 30 minutes before bringing the blaze under control.

According to a caretaker at the golf course, the fire started while several carts were charging. A sudden explosion at the circuit breaker reportedly triggered the fire, which spread rapidly across the row of vehicles. In total, seven golf carts were completely destroyed.

Lt. Theerasak documented the scene and confirmed that officers from the Central Police Forensic Science Division will conduct a thorough investigation to determine the precise cause of the fire.

No injuries have been reported, and damage assessments are underway.

Hmmm? So not a battery going into thermal runaway then?
