A drug dealer in Rayong province was arrested after a police chase ended with his vehicle crashing into the sea. The suspect attempted to flee authorities when approached, but his escape was thwarted when his car crashed into the ocean following a failed manoeuvre to avoid pedestrians.

At approximately 15:15  on 8 July, officers from Rayong Provincial Administrative Task Force and the Provincial Investigation Unit spotted a suspicious red sedan parked along Saeng Chan Beach in Noen Phra Subdistrict, Mueang District. Officers drove alongside the vehicle and rolled down their window to question the driver. Upon realising the men were police officers, the suspect panicked and sped away in the direction of Ban Takuan in Map Ta Phut Subdistrict.

As the pursuit intensified, a group of foreign tourists crossing the road forced the driver to swerve. He lost control of the vehicle, which crashed violently into the pavement and was launched off the road onto the beach, eventually landing in the sea.

Police quickly moved in and apprehended the injured driver, later identified as Mr. Kaew, a 25-year-old suspected drug trafficker long sought by authorities.

A search of the car revealed 10 grams of crystal methamphetamine in a clear plastic bag and two blue plastic packets containing a total of 500 methamphetamine pills. The drugs were seized as evidence.

Mr. Kaew was taken into custody and transported for further interrogation, where officers plan to expand the investigation in hopes of identifying other members of the drug distribution network and tracking down higher-level dealers.
