Which Country Is Loved...

Featured Replies

Is there a country out there that is more loved than Thailand?

Thailand could arguably be the most loved country in the world though it is fast adopting a culture and lifestyle of what could arguably be the most hated country in the world - hopefully this will wane and there will be limits to Thailand's globalisation... I am confident it will subside.

What other country has a monarch who recieves more respect, a much deserved respect born of love and not fear, than HRH The King?

What other country is as welcoming and as interested in foreigners as LOS?

What other country has a combination of beautiful scenery, friendliness, modern technology, urban poverty, sunshine, forest, beach, stunning women and amazing food, western comforts and ancient temples and ruins?

I'm not saying there isn't one - but I can't think of one.

For every one of us who loves Thailand (myself included) there seems to be at least one other embittered, cynical, expat who goes through life hating everyone and everything Thai. I always wonder why they are still hanging around?

Had street fried squid with a new Thai friend/neighbour last night who told me that an ex of hers was actually jealous of the king.

It seems of little relevance but he was from Scotland and had no respect for Thailand or the royal family whatsoever.

How can you not like the King?

The king is somebody who for starters is farang friendly unlike some other people in power here - he has a love for his country which is so genuine it shines, he takes care of the poor, invents things, takes an active interest in his country and treats the rich and the poor with equal respect and even treats dogs with love and care setting a good example to all.

He's the ultimate good guy and is interesting as well as interested, anyone - ESPECIALLY a farang who has anything negative to say about the man should be horsewhipped until he learns how to respect and behave in another country, then he should be sent home (baggage class) in his underwear and banned permenantly from SouthEast Asia.

If I had met him and been unfortunate enough to listen to his ramblings I would have informed every Thai from taxi driver to policeman of his words and his whereabouts.

Scamp ... don't forget the Jocks have hated anything to do with Royalty for hundreds and hundreds of years!!!

PATTAYA

Calm down a bit here. Pattaya is not a country!!! :o

Any foreigner living in another country should respect that countries laws, culture, beliefs etc...

Something that sadly some immigrants ( i'm sure the minority ) fail to do.... If you do not like where you live or the people who live there then why are you there ?

My Oh My.. And I thought Thais were to one with no to little knowledge about Geography! :o

No, its another planet... :D

Brazil

Does Brazil have a monarch?

No, but they have Carnival...the biggest party in the world.

No arguments 'scampie' from me regarding the King.

But on the thread itself many countries will be more loved than Thailand.

Why? because they have larger populations.

My answer is stupid I agree, but, so to is the thread. (IMHO) :o

Nana !

you dont mean NANA HOTEL

What other country has a combination of beautiful scenery, friendliness, modern technology, urban poverty, sunshine, forest, beach, stunning women and amazing food, western comforts and ancient temples and ruins?

I'm not saying there isn't one - but I can't think of one.

Here's a few that might fit.

Jordan, Denmark, Spain, Monaco (without the urban poverty), Western Samoa, Japan, Malyasia, Cambodia, Denmark, Tonga.

Ok they are'nt perfect matches!!

Your user name should be "random answers" instead of "random chances"...

It's all subjective, folks. Different people have different/varying likes and dislikes for various factors. For instance, I have met so many people who told me they cannot stand the heat/humidity of Thailand, while a lot of expats and regular long-term tourists here say they love the climate.

Also, one person's attitude towards many factors can change greatly as he/she ages. For instance, one might adore the nightlife here in his/her twenties and thirties but start to get so much fed up of it and dislike it at an older age.

Regards,

Jem

OK, then...what other country has a forum as active at this one devoted to expats so desperate to stay there at any cost? The US, perhaps...

Why? :o

They all have some sort of monarchy, emperor, chief or king.

They all must have beautiful women (at least some)

I dare say the sun shines on all of them.

They all must have at least some place that is fairly pretty, beaches, forest ect.

They all must have "amazing" food does'nt have to taste nice just "amazing"

Ancient temlpes and ruins, must have somewhere!!
