A 23-year-old delivery rider was found murdered by the roadside in Pluak Daeng district, Rayong province, in what police believe was a robbery gone wrong. The victim’s heavily pregnant wife had spent the entire night searching for him after he failed to return home from work.

Police were alerted by a member of the public who discovered the body lying face-down in tall grass beside the Nong Yai–Khao Noi road in Moo 2, Ta Sit subdistrict. Responding to the scene were investigators from Pluak Daeng Police Station, forensic officers from Rayong Provincial Police, rescue workers and a duty doctor from Pluak Daeng Hospital.

The victim was identified as Mr. Arm, a local parcel delivery rider. He was found with a cord tightly wrapped around his neck. His black shoulder bag had been rummaged through, with only a single 20-baht banknote remaining. His motorcycle was discovered nearby with a flat rear tyre. The delivery box still contained numerous undelivered parcels, which were collected and logged as evidence. The body was sent to Pluak Daeng Hospital for further examination.

According to police, initial investigations suggest that the victim was working late on 18 July, delivering packages around 22:00. It is believed that while passing through the area where his motorcycle tyre went flat, he attempted to push the vehicle along the roadside. It may have been at this vulnerable moment that an opportunistic thief on a motorcycle spotted him.  It is believed when the victim resisted the robbery, the suspect allegedly used a cord, possibly from the victim’s own bike, to strangle him before fleeing the scene.

The victim’s wife, who is heavily pregnant and due to give birth next month, reported him missing after he failed to return home. Her search ended when a passerby discovered the body the following day.

Police are continuing their investigation and awaiting the results of a full autopsy. They are also working to identify the perpetrator and determine whether additional individuals were involved in the fatal attack.
