Not surprising if one looks at the service in many food courts. Sure, the prices are decent in not charging more then 100 THB or 150 THB per dish. But the portions are ridiculously small and one can taste the stale oil and other excessive additives I recall those food courts in Hua Hin town malls, They need to improve the quality and serve decent portions. -

Picture courtesy of Pattaya News In a sweeping effort to combat the drug trade in Pattaya, Thai police executed two significant raids this week, targeting illegal drug activities and leaving a wake of arrested users and fleeing suspects. The first operation unfolded at 5pm on June 16, led by District Chief Patcharapat Sritanyanon. The raid, conducted alongside Wanchat Wannapram of the Administrative Group, officer Kamphrai Laosaen, and Bang Lamung’s Territorial Defence Volunteers, targeted a suspected drug den in Soi Huay Yai Jeen. Inside the two-storey dwelling, several individuals were caught in the act of using drugs. While some managed to escape, law enforcement apprehended the homeowner, 41-year-old Piyapong Sudphun, and his 23-year-old girlfriend, suspected of running the illicit operation. A thorough search of the premises revealed various paraphernalia associated with drug use, including glass pipes, bongs, lighters, and a bag of crystal meth found on a glass table. In their desperation, the suspects reportedly ripped open the bag and attempted to dispose of the drugs while officers were briefly distracted. Adding an unexpected twist, a motorcyclist arrived during the raid, seemingly intending to purchase drugs. Instead, he found himself promptly arrested. In total, five individuals were taken into custody during the operation. Officials emphasised that the raid is part of a broader initiative to eliminate drug-related activities and enhance community safety. They encouraged locals to report suspicious activities through the Damrongdhama Centre or the dedicated 24/7 hotline at 1567, urging residents to act as the “eyes and ears” of the community. Pattaya's ongoing anti-drug campaign underscores a commitment to reclaiming neighbourhoods from the grip of narcotics, aiming to restore trust and safety across the city.
