Govt Whips Resign

Govt whips resign

BANGKOK: -- The government coordination committee in the National Legislative Assembly resigned Friday.

The committee became defunct after its chairman MR Kamloonthep Thewakul resigned.

Earlier, Wallop Tangkhananurak resigned as a member of the coordination committee out of dissatisfaction that other whips lobbied the NLA to reject the bill to promote quality of life of the disabled.

Following Wallop's resignation, other whips were considering whether to resign but Kamothep submitted his resignation first, prompting the entire committee to be defunct.

A well-informed source said Prime Minister Surayud Chulanont wanted a new coordination committee to be set up as soon as possible.

Now this is interesting, though the ostensible reason is the disability issue, the fracas over the FBA, where clearly the whips has misjudged both the sentiment and had failed to create at least the semblance of order within the house, may well have contributed to this resignation.

Regards

It would be interesting to know who the 30 members of the NLA were that slipped out of the meeting that the whips (supposedly) didn't notice.
