A dramatic clash erupted on Thai television as Jakrapob Penkair, the PM’s secretary, faced off against actor Vorarit “Nott” Fuangarome. The heated encounter during the Chae Show was centred on Thailand’s handling of the rising conflict with Cambodia, particularly over a disputed temple site.

akrapob, who was appointed only days ago, is a seasoned political figure with a history of involvement in the United Front for Democracy Against Dictatorship. During the broadcast, he was called to defend the government's decision to adopt a measured, diplomatic approach amid rising tensions over a contested temple site along the Thai-Cambodian border.

The interview quickly turned fiery when Vorarit criticised what he described as the administration's sluggish reaction to the dispute. Emphasising sovereignty and territorial integrity, Vorarit challenged Jakrapob on the government's readiness to protect national interests. Jakrapob advocated patience and deliberation, emphasising international image and strategic diplomacy.

As the discussion intensified, Vorarit pressed Jakrapob about the Thai government’s understanding of Cambodia's actions. It was then that Jakrapob delivered the unexpected retort, “I’m not Hun Sen’s father, am I?” This spontaneous comment gained widespread attention and sparked discussions on various social media platforms.

Throughout the encounter, Vorarit maintained a relentless line of questioning, suggesting that a lack of clarity on Cambodia’s intentions undermined the government’s ability to lead effectively. Jakrapob countered by insisting that investigations were ongoing and that details would emerge once due diligence was completed.

Following the broadcast, social media lit up with users offering a mix of praise and criticism. Many lauded Vorarit's hard-hitting questions, while others expressed concern over the government’s apparent uncertainty. Commentators noted that the spirited debate underscored a growing public desire for transparent communication and decisive action from Thai leadership.

In the aftermath, Vorarit addressed the public via a Facebook post, reflecting on the interview. He confessed to allowing his emotions to influence his demeanour, calling it an unprofessional lapse, but he insisted that such passion was genuine and unavoidable given the stakes.

Vorarit has not made any additional announcements to clarify the situation. This high-profile exchange on national television highlights the intense public scrutiny Thai officials face as tensions simmer with Cambodia. The confrontation has spotlighted underlying regional issues and the pressing need for strategic resolution.

The pollies, yes. But the Thai military looking reasonably well-organized, albeit against a less-than-wunnerful opponent.

Military coup to follow the announcement of Peace in our Time in a few weeks.

To be honest this spate might just bolster the army into kicking the Shins out again.... lest face-it

Thaksin was a pain in the rear when he was in Dubai, since he's been back it's got a whole lot worse.
