A long-running feud between two older men in Surat Thani ended in tragedy when a second confrontation in the same afternoon turned deadly, leaving one man dead from a sickle attack.

Police Captain Prawat Srithape, investigating officer at Kanchanadit Police Station, received a report at 4:53 PM of a fatal assault on a road in front of a shrimp pond in Baan Bo Cholok, Moo 4, Thung Kong subdistrict, Kanchanadit district. Officers from the investigative unit, forensic team, and rescue workers were dispatched to the scene.

They found the body of Mr. Sunthorn, 63, lying in a pool of blood with a deep, fatal wound to the back of his head and another cut to his left wrist. The suspect, Mr. Manot, 57, was arrested shortly afterwards near the scene.

Initial investigations revealed that earlier in the day, the two men encountered each other at a nearby shop and began arguing loudly. Local residents stepped in to break up the quarrel and both men walked away. However, later, Mr. Manot returned and the argument reignited.

During the second confrontation, Mr. Manot allegedly grabbed a pruning sickle and struck Mr. Sunthorn on the wrist and the back of the head, causing him to collapse and die on the spot. He fled but was swiftly tracked down and arrested.

Police say the suspect has confessed and will face charges of murder.
