Notting Hill Carnageaval update:

• 560 arrests
• Multiple weapons seized including a gun
• One man dead
• An 8 year old child missing
• 43 registered sex offenders identified

Met Police say the weekend passed ‘largely without incident’

The ultimate in gaslighting.

Around two million attendees each year. Two million. There are more sex offenders at your average Yaxley-Lennon rally of a few thousand. That's one arrest for every 3,571 people attending. And mostly drugs (cannabis) and a few assaults. Again, less than a typical Yaxley-Lennon gathering.

Get a grip.

The Notting Hill carnival is a fantastic event. You should try it some time although you would be too afraid as there is black music, steel bands, and many dark people.

Bizarre. Wait a year to reopen a long dead post to have a moan about something you've never gone to.

Next weekend the Blackpool Illuminations get turned on. Need some posts whinging about Christmas, chuck in some sniping about Diwali etc.

The following weekend its Last Night at the Proms, so we need moaning about pompous arses in funny hats, flags, why can't we get a British conductor instead of a Finnish one. Someone will say its boring to hear, yet again, Fantasia on British Sea Songs, the meaning of Jerusalem. Then there will be an obscure debate whether Heart of Oak or Land of Hope and Glory should be England's Anthem (Rugby fans will fail Swing Low, Sweet Chariot, before being beaten down and reminded its also a slave song). Another event ruined by the instinctually unhappy.

I would not visit this "fantastic event". I have a very different version of events which I enjoy and go to.

British female police officers seems to love this event and maybe this is the reason they let your lot to do all the crime...?

The more you learn about this event the more "lovely" it gets. Specially the "kids" day.

I learned that Muslim Sadiq Khan allocated £4.6 million of taxpayers’ money for extra security for Notting Hill Crime Carnival.

This is what the taxpayers got.

Having resurrected a year old thread to post your claim you might put a little bit more effort in and provide a link to support it:

So you don’t have a link to substantiate your claim:

You need to read your own posts, £4.6 mill funding for an estimated £400 mil boost to the local economy.

Notting Hill is home to a diverse religious community, primarily consisting of Christian denominations, including Anglican, Catholic, and other Protestant churches, alongside a significant presence of Muslim, Hindu, and Jewish communities. This diversity reflects the area's rich cultural history and immigrant population.

Following the completion of the review, further improvements are required with carnival organisers needing £4.66m to deliver necessary safety measures.

And here's update from the Crime Carnival:

Record 636 arrests at Notting Hill Carnival.

242 on Sunday, 394 on Monday.

193 of them on the approaches to the event.

Offences included drugs, assaults (including on emergency workers), weapons (68 seized, including a handgun), sexual offences and public order.

Live facial recognition: 214 alerts, 121 arrests, 86 registered sex offenders stopped. 7 arrested for breaching conditions.

Wow, how lawless can it get, shut the place down, 636 arrested out of an estimated attendance of 2 million, roughly 0.0318%, are you for real?

0.0318% of 2 million is still 636 people who turned up with drugs, blades, a handgun and sex-offender licence breaches. Not to forget assaults on emergency workers.

That’s a two-day crime scene that needed 7,000 officers, facial recognition, and still produced a record haul and a death in a canal chase.

Not for me and luckily here in Asia we do not have that crap.

Have you ever been to the Carnival?

I have, it is a great weekend, as in any event with such large numbers attending there is always going to be an element of lawlessness, the police on the whole join in with the festivities unless there is a problem, which in my experience is very rare, and I smoke weed, hardly a problem nowadays but back in the 70/80's it was, which lead to a lot of the problems.

Standard trouble during all these events is drink, causes more trouble than its worth.

And they ALL hate and destest the Carnival

Wow, someone got arrested out of a crowd of a million people. What's your point?

Do you know how many people get arrested at the average football match?

Do you know how many people get arrested at the average Yaxley-Lennon march?

I'll give you a clue, it is a much higher ratio, and they are mostly exclusively white people. And they also cost money to police. So by your same logic we should be banning football matches and racist rallies.

Admit it, you just doing like seeing so many black and brown people in one place.

Facial recognition software detecting 0.0318% of attendees who are criminals.

So on the basis of probability over 3000 people would need to walk past you before you met a criminal.

Notting Hill Carnival: What do residents REALLY think of the carnival?

We asked people what they thought of the carnival after a study revealed 90% of residents living in the area were not fans

Wow, people who live amongst massive crowds don't like massive crowds. Everyone else loves it, but I imagine it's not so much fun if you have people pissing in your garden.

People who live next to football stadia who aren't interested in football don't like it. People who live on the route of Yaxley-Lenon marches don't like it. I imagine those people don't like people pissing in their gardens either.

Hardly surprising.

Everyone can do anything they like.....................because worse things happen at a Tommy Robinson march :)

As usual, pick out the bits that suit your narrative.

If all else fails bring Tommy Robinson into the thread. Throw in Lowe and Reform can do a triple.

That doesn't make any sense .

I was just pointing out that Joe keeps making the point that it doesn't matter what happened at the Carnival, because worse things happen at a Tommy Robinson march .

I didn't pick out the bits that suit my narrative (Not that I even have a narrative)

Why you have an obsession of Tommy Robinson (Yaxley-Lennon)? Sounds like you need help.

I admit I do not like seeing people like in attached video that I received from my friend in Japan. She does not like to see these in Japan and said that London is already gone.

Imagine “White on the square” No? Me neither.

We shouldn’t put up with racism from elected officials.

Mayor's Press Office:

Black On The Square is back in Trafalgar Sq this Saturday, 12-6pm - come on down for a free, family friendly afternoon full of entertainment celebrating London's Black culture, creativity and community.

I'll bet there's plenty of "action".... and let's hope it does not rain.

Missing the point. I was initially responding to a poster who was saying the carnival needs to be cancelled and is a terrible thing because there were some arrests. The ratio of arrests (600-ish?) to attendees (est. 2m) is miniscule and there is always going to be some kind of disturbance when they are that many people. To illustrate the point I said the numbers of arrests is lower (per capita) than at a typical football match and definitely lower than a Yaxley-Lennon rally.

FinChin hates it because it is black culture. He calls it The Notting Hill Crime Carnival. He doesn't seem to think that football matches or Yaxley marches shouldn't go ahead, even though arrest rates there are significantly higher. He doesn't search for videos of disturbances at them. He's a hypocrite and a, well, you know the word.

More two tier policing,

23 arrests at the last Tommy Robinson event, and the authorities want them banned.

600 arrests at a non-white event and it's harmless fun.
