Another weekend, another shambles.

They managed to miss the first Tottenham goal.

The Birmingham West Ham game apeared after 23 minutes.

Maybe Sparky forgot to pay the bill or his hair dryer blew the fuse.

Well after 10 days of frustration I 've finally got my Supersport from S Africa finally working, and it was pleasure not to miss the start of the Spurs match (I flicked to True afte the fist goal and saw those idiots still talking and wondered what the h.ll was going on)

We also get half way decent English pundits before the kick off, at half time, and at the close, and we get the Sky live commentary team.

And.. we got 3 beer ads in a row..... (at half time of course)

Worth waiting for methinks :o

Yes. This is the way forward.

My cable used to do the games with Supersport, but not so far this season...

Mobi, how did you get it? Did you have to nuy an expensive dish?

Okay, a new game to play.

Who will it be tonight?

1.Somchai and Sparky

or

2. Somchai 2 and Red Flame

Not sure which is worse.

I think its Somchai and Sparky for the saturday games and Somchai 2 and Raging Flame for the sunday games.

I was lucky enough to miss somchai and sparky last night as I was out on the lash with the lads :bah::bah: .

No such luck tonight though 'cause I'm staying in to watch the games , I've been grounded by the missus after last nights escapades :o:D .

I've been grounded for last weeks escapades :D

I have a once a month binge then get grounded for the rest of the month. :D

This just makes the next month's binge all the more likely. :D

I can't break the cycle.post-39032-1187502478.gif

I'm still suprised though that no one has yet come along on the forum to spout the virtues of how good they are :D

I'm very happy that True Visions can keep us up to date with the "lasted score." :o

Our Soccer "experts" are now on air, so It's time to get out of the room. Looks like they are both wearing brown shoes this evening. :o

Don't know what would happen if someone asked then a question? As it appears they are reading off a script. I'd say that most seven year olds would be able to actually say something meaningful about the game if they'd been watching it, but by the look of things, The Raging Flame has had is face in a box of donuts and Somchai has just taken his orange mocycle jacket off after a short trip down to the Som Tam stall.

I suppose it's nice to see that they are giving complete amateurs the opportunity to work on TV :D

There's just been a drop ball in the Balckburn v Arsenal match , I havent seen one of those for years.

It was Robbie Savage against Cesc Fabregas and Fabregas won.

Still 1-0 to City in the Manc derby with 5 minutes to go.

I was falling asleep around the start of the match.

Did they manage to miss the first 30 seconds?

The list goes on ... :D .

While those 2 were talking after the match the message scrolling at the bottom of the screen was " lasted score " .... :o .

Probably comic books :o

I was late in, so missed the first 10 minutes of the game, but I wasn't concerned as I didn't thin it would come on until the 20th minute.

Maybe Turdvisions get a discount for not showing all the match.

Sounds a total nightmare. Glad i dont live in LOS anymore.

I'll be back in the UK in around 3-4 weeks. I'll be there for around 2 months, so I won't have to put up with Truevisions crap (for a while at least).

I will never slag off Sky TV football coverage again..

Well guys, I think you have all done Somchai & Sparky a dis-service.

I think they are the most eloquent, knowledgeable and just downright likeable lads that UBC have ever put on the air.

The missus and I today bought 2 Shih Tzu puppies, and in the 'True' tradition of unwavering fans, we have proudly named them after our new heroes.

So here are Somchai & Sparky in all their glory. Sparky is the smaller one. :o

Yes well the canines look nice and cute which is more than can be said about the Thai football presenters on True.

Having seen Tuesday "Football Focus", we at least had some comparatively knowledgeable discussion about the EPL.

And the pointed remarks from Dykes about the mail received from Thailand and Singapore implied there is a lot of upset re the way the TV football live games are now being presented in these regions.

Anyway, in view of the fact that True can use multiple channels to show matches I wonder if they could not be persuaded to use one of those channels to have the ESPN/Star feed re English presentation etc?

There must be a significant audience in Asia fed up with losing the English presention and analysis what was and is viewable, which is not what we are getting now.

Right?

Right?

Fully agree with what you are saying. The Thai coverage is an embarrasement to professional sports broadcasting. hel_l, I reckon I'd make a better presenter than Somchai and Sparky, and I am available at half the price of Shebby,Masefield, Reeves et al :o

I wrote directly to True Vision regarding this subject and they replied! So they admit there are complaints coming in thick and fast!

SEE REPLY

I would be interested to here some comments from the main bulk of subscribers the Thais...on this subject.ANYONE?

Yes welcome relief to watch football focus and I picked up on what John Dykes said regarding Thailand viewers missing out.

We are terribly sorry for late reply and for any convenience caused. As you know this year, TrueVisions has maintained its focus on sports entertainment by acquiring the rights directly from the Football Association Premier League or FAPL for live telecast solely in Thailand for three seasons consecutively, from 2007/2008 – 2009/2010. This means we have to do the coverage ourselves and this forced to have the commentary in Thai during the half time period for instance, however when the game starts, you can still enjoying watching the game. We really understand the difficulty you face and admit that we have lots of comments for this matter, we will convey this message to the related party for further consideration and improvement. Your patience would be very much appreciated.

Should you have any further enquiry, do not hesitate to contact us at 02-7252525 or [email protected]

We are so grateful for your trust in our service and support us all time.

Looks like a polite way of saying <deleted> off we don't really care.

Turdvisions, probably the biggest joke in sports entertainment.

I see that none of Football Focus, Football Crazy, or Football Forecast are showing any clips whatsoever of EPL matches this season, not even the goal of the week.

Football Crazy is filling the gap by showing highlights of the Championship, which is a nice idea, but obviously the new contracts do not allow replays of EPL action except in the specific replay shows that we are not allowed to see in Thailand.

It was a bit silly in Football Focus to see discussions of the ref's (and Lehmann's) mistakes last week and all they could do was to show still photos. I can get that from a newspaper.

Friday nights have gone from a 1 hr preview show followed by a half hour review of the English press, to a half hour forecast show which only has time to talk about 3 matches.

It's totally taken ther gloss of what used to be decent football programs , a real shame :o .

If anyone read the sports section in the Bangkok Post today then you would have seen the letters section and they were all regarding truesports and coverage of the epl. It has kicked up quite a fuss but I think the end message as always is like it or lump it from the thais.

But we can still slag off somchai and sparky :D .

I think we are all right to criticise True/UBC for the unprofessional manner in which they have handled the presentation of the current Premier league season, and in particular the almost farcical Somchai & Sparkie who seem to know even less about the game of football than their namesakes, my two Shih Tzu pups. :o

However, I think we should put it all in a bit of perspective.

While we can certainly bemoan and decry the loss of the English build up and analysis programmes that used to be supplied by ESPN, we have in it's place, total coverage of every football match - every week. (For those who have Platinum coverage). OK, I know that we seem to have lost the 'same night' repeats that ESPN used to schedule for matches with time clashes, but such is the scheduling of the live games by the EPL, that a majority of the 'important' games are not scheduled simultaneously, and for sure you can always watch your own team every week, be it Manu or Derby. You couldn't always do that with ESPN coverage.

So fair's fair, and I am also impressed that True have responded to the criticisms, so who knows? they may do something about it. I think that they should be given a chance. It has undoubtedly been as massive production for them to manage all these games on air that used to be managed for them by ESPN, and given the lack of professionals in this part of the world, the problems that have emerged can hardly come as a surprise.

And let's not forget that we are in Thailand, and despite what any one says, I am sure that a majority of subscribers are Thai, so any local English coverage has to be a minority audience. If you were running the UBC monopoly, and you had to answer to shareholders, would you spend too much time and money keeping a small foreign minority happy, when you know full well most of them will continue to subscribe regardless?

As for Supersport coverage - well it's superior when you get it, but at best you only get 2 games on a Saturday night, and sometimes only one, so it doesn't come close to UBC's coverage. It's good for other sports such as cricket and rugby, but for football, you'd better stick to UBC I'm afraid.
