A brawl erupted on Pattaya’s Walking Street after a foreign tourist was accused of groping a woman, with the confrontation caught on camera and now circulating online.

The short video, around 15 seconds long, was uploaded to Facebook on 3 September by user Achirawit Phonthayan. It has since drawn more than 150,000 views and a flood of criticism. The clip shows a man, identified only as a foreign national, being set upon by several people on the busy street.

One eyewitness recalled sitting outside a BB gun shop with friends when three foreigners, two men and a woman, walked by. According to her account, one of the men attempted to touch a young woman who was chatting with her boyfriend.

The boyfriend tried to fend the man off, but the tourist allegedly grabbed the woman’s bottom. That action sparked a furious reaction and quickly escalated into a fistfight, which was captured in the viral footage.

The witness expressed alarm,

“We feel let down when things like this happen,” she said. “Visitors should respect our culture and behave appropriately, not treat a holiday as a licence to do anything they please.”

She urged tourists to keep their behaviour in check to prevent similar incidents.

Police have yet to confirm whether charges will be brought against anyone involved.

I agree…

But let’s be honest – that’s laying it on rather thick when we’re talking specifically about Walking Street and what it’s actually famed for.

Of course, no one has the right to touch another person without permission – that’s obvious. But to frame it all under the banner of “respecting the culture” is quite the juxtaposition, given the area’s reputation for sex tourism.

Probably few could have expressed it better, nor more precisely.

Agree. However, I am baffled over that so many comes to Thailand and lose all kinds of concepts and think that they can behave totally without respect, manner and decency.

No free gropes!

Cheeky f should be arrested and charged. To think he can just grope any girl he wants and even someone who is with her boyfriend is outrageous. If he did that to a girl I was with, then I would have laid into him.

I bet he wouldn't dare do it wherever he comes from

Maybe he doesn’t come from a famous red light area street where virtually anything goes.

Of course he shouldn’t have done it, of course that kind of thing goes on all the time in that street and if inside a bar or go go the staff are actively encouraging it because it’s part of the process by which they earn money.

So yeah, he is in the wrong. Sanctimonious indignation isn’t quite called for though.

Must have picked up that kind of behavior from the ladyboys who groped you….according to what you posted on another thread. Maybe some of the local's should set a better example

How did you come to that conclusion? Truly deluded!

But is it many though? I doubt it. I think this very rarely happens. Normal foreigners do have respect for ladies and for Thai culture.

This behaviour is disgusting, but to think it's okay to do it here, and not in their own country, is mind boggling.

Yeah, you are probably right if you look at how many people that actually comes to Thailand every year. Still I think it´s too much and that we get to read about a lot of crazy stuff too many times.

Did you get groped by a Thai man in a dress?  A rite of passage in Pattaya. As long as it wasn't one of your friends from back home.

See, another delusional member has posted. No, I´ve never got grouped by any Thai man, with or without dress. I´ve also lived in Pattaya for about 1,5 years as well as I am a frequent visitor as I like the nightlife scene. Also, please don´t take me for being a person who associate with the same clientele as you. You seem to post out of experience, though. Good luck with you next banana-boy.

Classic Gottfried deflection and attempt to taunt and goad an abusive response.

i’m quite good at it myself, but it’s always amazing to see such a master in action.

Strange. In another thread you posted that you had previously been groped by ladyboys.

Are you unable to follow your own posts these days?

P.S Don’t make me look up your post and post it here. That would just embarrass you more. Take the L and move on.

Don´t worry it will embarrass me. I think I have to ask you post the link.

Good news!

”Besides which. I've had my crotch grabbed on several occasions walking past the ubiquitous packs of ladyboys in Pattaya, so I have zero sympathy when someone grabs one of theirs when they're out actively soliciting)”

It wasn’t you who said it but a person replying to your post. So you have no need to be embarrassed, as my memory fails me.

Yeah, I kinda knew that. Anyway, nice to know that it wasn´t anything wrong with my abilities to follow my posts.
