Pattaya city officials responded to reports on 19 September 2025 of two intoxicated foreign tourists causing a public disturbance along Pattaya Beach Road. One individual was reported to have urinated into the sea and physically assaulted a local resident who intervened.

The incident occurred near Soi 6 on the beachfront road at approximately 22:00. Local residents alerted municipal officers, who coordinated with the Pattaya City Police to investigate and apprehend the tourists. During the arrest, the suspects attempted to flee, running from Soi 6 to Soi 3, but were caught by authorities.

The victims of the physical altercation chose not to press charges. However, the offending tourist was fined for public urination in accordance with local laws. The names and nationalities of both tourists were not released. They reportedly quickly sobered up, paid the fines and were subsequently released.

Local resident Rungarun Jehmat, 47, described the incident, noting that the tourists reacted aggressively when warned and displayed rude gestures. He suggested that authorities should improve public toilet facilities along the beach and install warning signs to prevent similar incidents in the future.

City officials have indicated that the arrest and fine are in line with regulations designed to maintain public order and hygiene along the Pattaya beachfront. The swift municipal and police response demonstrates ongoing efforts to address tourist misconduct and protect local residents.

Authorities are considering further measures to prevent future disturbances, including enhanced signage, better access to public restrooms and continued monitoring of high-traffic tourist areas. The incident highlights the need for proactive management of public behaviour in tourist zones.

Thai people urinate everywhere. Truckdrivers on the road against their trucks, motor taxi drivers aty place against a flyover, while Big C is a few meters away amd many more examples, so the RTP let them do but if foreigners pee in the sea, Thai people get upset, as they pretend not to these things. Xenophobic. Thailand only for Thais.. and wondering why tourism is declining. Built public toilets and invest instead of destroying

The only thing this story highlights is the need to put public toilets out on the beach. I have never quite figured out why Pattaya has never accommodated the need to use a toilet when you are drinking? When everyone knows you use the toilet more often when consuming alcohol. It is like Pattaya does not care about the tourists once they spend their money in the local establishments.

Pattaya surely has enough funds to purchase and maintain public urinals and toilets. Yet, in all the years they have never bothered to address this problem.

improve public toilet facilities

Every major road has these; they are called grass verges and are used by countless Thai drivers every minute of every day.  Let one farang pee (into the heavily polluted sea of sewage) and there is outrage!

Well of course.

A f-rang must pay 300 b-t for sugared milk at S-bucks and beg for the toilet key.

McDonalds lets you use their toilets for 10 baht.

And they're squeaky clean.

You likely have to go through some complicated touch screen menu and then go and pay at the till, if you haven't been already!

says someone who doesn't know that a lot of Thais are doing the same, but they are netizens and above all laws

I see at least two to four Thais taking a piss along the roadside every time I take my dog for a walk. Guess they are immune to this law.

Let me tell you, these are younger people, but every older person knows that at some point you will have problems with your prostate.
That's what happened to me this week in Bangkok. I had just been to a currency exchange office and was about to drive off on Sukhumvit Road when I felt a strong urge to urinate. But where do you find a toilet when you're unfamiliar with the city? Then I came to a traffic light, which was red, of course, and I had to wait almost four minutes. I jumped out of my car, opened the boot, took a water bottle out of the boot, threw the water out and managed to use it in the car.
But it didn't go without a hitch, of course, I spilled some, partially wet my trousers, but I got rid of it... what a relief.
