Old Pete outdid himself with this bonehead plan. If this sort of meeting were needed, it should involve months of planning just considering logistics: where are all those officers and aides to stay? How will security be implemented (talk about a juicy target! Putting all your eggs in one basket)? Who/what will be chain of command while all those top generals and admirals are gone from their posts? This will make US vulnerable to all sorts of military and terrorist attacks worldwide.

Why couldn't this just be done on military zoom calls?

The purpose of this huge waste of money and exposure to danger has not been shared. Why not? Maybe it's just to hear Pete clank his big brass ones together?

One might hope that Trump might tell Pete to forget about it, but I'm not holding my breath

For sure, bringing the military on civilian law enforcement is extreme. But the crime has gone extreme in the USA for many years.

But before then, a meeting to make sure all understand there are to be no unauthorized press releases. No Freedom of Speech challenges from the top to the new recruit. This MACC group, based on the link you provided, appears to be entirely non-violent,though indeed anarchist, and beyond the similar aim to push back against state capitalism, Oligarchy and rising fascism, has no explicit affiliation with ANTIFA, nor could there be, ANTIFA itself being without organization or structure.
