September 26, 2025Sep 26 Does anyone know of a person or business that might want to purchase my DVD collection? Might there be somewhere at Fortune Town in Bangkok (I sold some vinyl LP's there once)? I have several hundred, maybe 1000, all genuine and most bought from Amazon UK. TV series, movies, music, a few documentaries. I posted a similar request in Marketplace several weeks ago, but that appears to receive very little 'traffic'.
September 26, 2025Sep 26 You might have to wait a few more years for them to become collectable again..just like vinyl has had quite a resurrection lately. They are good to keep as an historical record too,we have seen that certain things are very easy to "disappear" from the internet/online streaming companies. Anyway hope you find a new home for them if you really can't keep hold of them any longer space issues ?

Anyway hope you find a new home for them if you really can't keep hold of them any longer space issues ? It's just that I have no need for them. When I moved to Thailand nearly 30 years ago, and knowing back then that English-language tv was all but non-existent and IPTV hadn't arrived yet, I bought the DVDs so I'd have something to watch. One or two box sets are still in their wrapper as I didn't get around to watching them. If there is interest from anyone then I'll catalogue them. That's a long job so I'll wait to see if there is any interest first. To make it easier I'd prefer to sell the collection as one item.

It's worth searching online sites like ebay for the boxsets still in the wrapper as some of those do fetch some money certain ones a lot of money due to what I mentioned about the series being removed from streaming sites.

Thanks. I'm not sure that being removed from streaming sites is an issue, though. An enormous amount of stuff is available for downloading from torrent sites. A grey area, that, but if there is no other source....

Quality of sound is far better on cd and vinyl than it is on streaming.
October 2, 2025Oct 2 Why not try listing them on Kaidee or Bahtsold? I for one would never try to buy anything from Fartbook Marketplace, it is full of thieves, scammers, rip off merchants, liars and bullsh%tters. Kaidee is the best in my book, I have managed to sell items there quire quickly. Bahtsold appears more for Farangs, the prices are about 15% more, but obviously, this is the premium required when buying anything from a "Farang" as they take care of everything so much better than Thais....cough cough!

Kaidee is by far the most professional site of the 3, well run and never been scammed. Facebook is just riddled with scams.

And that's why I'm going to look around there when I am in Bangkok next month. It's a long shot as vinyls are not dvds and time has passed, but I'll take a look. As for the price offered to you for your records, I once sold a lot to a shop in London. Most of the stuff was ordinary but there were a few gems in there so they kind of subsidised buying the average to get the gems. Nice of them, really.

October 5, 2025Oct 5 Look over on Reddit, on their sub about DVDs. when I moved to Thailand three years ago, I sold a few of my DVDs for between 30 and $50 apiece. If you have old Indie or foreign movies that haven’t been streamed, that’s what brings the money. If they are sexy but classy in content, that’s where you’re getting into the $30 range.

I'll take a look, but sites I've looked at so are are mostly US-oriented and for practical reasons (shipping) I really need to try and sell in Thailand - a long shot, I know.
