Gaza Strikes Kill Dozens Amid Escalating Tensions

Intensifying Israeli airstrikes have claimed the lives of over 35 people in Gaza, with health officials reporting many civilians among the casualties, including those seeking aid. A devastating strike targeted a house in central Gaza, resulting in the deaths of 11 individuals, over half of them women and children, according to officials at al-Ahli Arab hospital. In addition, nine members of a single family were killed in the Nuseirat refugee camp, while six more perished seeking assistance in the region.

This escalation follows Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu's declaration at the United Nations that Israel must "finish the job" against Hamas. The Israeli air force has reportedly targeted around 120 locations in the Strip since Friday, focusing on areas identified as Hamas strongholds. The situation remains dire in Gaza City, the epicentre of the offensive, where harsh humanitarian conditions have led to the collapse of essential services.

As international calls for a ceasefire grow, including several new recognitions of Palestinian statehood at the UN, Israel continues its military operations to force Hamas into surrender. Despite international pressure, Netanyahu maintained Israel's stance in his UN address, which led to numerous delegates walking out in protest.

US President Donald Trump has expressed optimism about brokering a deal for the hostages' release and negotiating a new ceasefire. Trump's Middle East envoy, Steve Witkoff, has drafted a 21-point peace plan, purportedly including the establishment of a future Palestinian state and a ceasefire. These proposals, yet to be officially presented, have faced rejection from Netanyahu.

Hostilities stem from ongoing tensions following the Hamas-led attack on southern Israel on 7 October 2023, which resulted in over 1,200 deaths and 251 hostages. The subsequent Israeli military response has led to the deaths of at least 65,549 people in Gaza, as per the Hamas-run health ministry.

With the two-year anniversary of the initial attack approaching, both Israel and Gaza face an uncertain future, with hopes for a resolution remaining tenuous amid ongoing conflict.

Key Takeaways:

  • Israeli strikes in Gaza have killed over 35 people, many seeking aid.
  • International pressure for a ceasefire grows, but Israel persists with its offensive.
  • The US proposes a peace plan, but Netanyahu rejects it; future talks uncertain.

There is no point in commenting further on this item, as the population is divided into two camps. For me, the fact remains that the hostages have not yet been released and that Israel must fight to the end of its existence. If they stop today, there will be no Israel tomorrow.

I will not respond to this any further.

Why does Hamas refuse to release the hostages and allow the war to end?

Release the hostages and there will be full Genocide. This is not about the hostages, even the Israeli finance  minister says so.

Israel’s far-right finance minister, Bezalel Smotrich, drew outrage Monday when he said returning Israeli hostages still held by Hamas is not the war’s “most important goal.”

If you support Genocide of course you don’t want to hang around and attempt to answer unanswerable accusations. Better slide away land pretend Israel are doing no wrong.

You would say that as you’ve skin in the game. There are 20 living hostages in Gaza.

You ignore the 1000s of Palestinians in Israeli jails, of which over 1000 have had no trial. Educate yourself for your own serenity, this from Israel’s leading human rights group.

The power to incarcerate people who have not been convicted or even charged with anything for lengthy periods of time, based on secret “evidence” that they cannot challenge, is an extreme power. Israel uses it continuously and extensively, routinely holding hundreds of Palestinians at any given moment.

At the end of December 2024, the Israel Prison Service (IPS) was holding 2,216 Palestinians from the Gaza Strip in detention or in prison on what it defined “security” grounds. At that time, the IPS was also holding 3 Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, for being in Israel illegally.

At the end of December 2024, the Israel Prison Service (IPS) was holding 113 Palestinian minors in detention or in prison on what it defined “security” grounds. At that time, the IPS was also holding 93 Palestinian minors for being in Israel illegally.

What would these Palestinians be doing if they were free?  There is a reason they are detained.  Why aren't other Arab countries taking these people?

Israel has undercover agents in the territories .

The agents report terrorist activities back to Israel .

Israel arrests and detains the terrorists .

Putting them on trial would mean exposing the agents , which would put them in danger

  That is the reason .

Israel cannot bring charges in Court because their undercover operators will be exposed when giving evidence

Its true though and it stands to reason .

Israel does indeed have informers/agents  living in the West bank

That is without a doubt .

The agents do inform Israeli authorities about future planned attacks

Israel arrests those people .

Israel cannot bring those people to trial without exposing the agents.

I thought that was common knowledge

if I answer that, then just like you, it would be speculation

"Israel's defence minister warned that those who remain in Gaza City will be terrorists and terror supporters.''

Unicef spokesman James Elder told the BBC that during a recent visit to Gaza City he had witnessed "multiple air strikes in the very short time" and "a mix of children who are emaciated [and] utterly exhausted women".

"Anyone who could speak English would explain to me that staying in Gaza City is not a choice, that they don't have the funds to go south. They don't have the transport. Once they get south, they know there's no land, and certainly that they don't have a tent," he said.

"They've seen what shrapnel does to a tent. They've seen tents engulfed by flames. So they're well aware that safety, be it from the skies or disease from the ground, certainly doesn't exist."

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cvgnznkjrx6o

Israeli media cited the IDF as saying on Monday that about 800,000 people had fled the city since the plans for the offensive were announced in August, and that between 250,000 and 350,000 people remained.
