Official portrait of Angela Rayner

Angela Rayner is back in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons — accused of using her taxpayer-funded bodyguards as personal removal men just weeks after quitting in disgrace.

Exclusive photos show the ex-Deputy Prime Minister’s official security team — paid thousands a day to protect her — hauling boxes for her boyfriend, former Labour MP Sam Tarry, in an £80,000 BMW X5.

The Mail on Sunday revealed the two protection officers were seen ferrying bags and boxes between Rayner’s £800,000 Hove flat and Tarry’s £450,000 Brighton pad, only three miles apart. Rayner herself was nowhere to be seen.

A spokesman admitted the officers helped move “a small number” of her belongings, claiming it was for “security reasons.” But critics say it’s another example of the Labour firebrand’s “sense of entitlement” and disregard for public money.

Tory MP Ben Obese-Jecty blasted: “Highly trained close-protection officers shouldn’t be moonlighting as removal men. This is an outrageous waste of taxpayers’ cash.”

Reform UK’s Richard Tice fumed: “Rayner’s Removals shouldn’t be funded by the taxpayer,” while the TaxPayers’ Alliance demanded a full investigation.

Rayner, 45, resigned from Keir Starmer’s Cabinet last month after a sleaze watchdog found she breached the Ministerial Code — underpaying £40,000 in stamp duty on her Brighton flat.

Now, as senior Labour figures push for her return, critics say this latest scandal shows she’s learned nothing from her fall from grace.
