Thailand has welcomed over 25 million international visitors by October 2025, generating more than 1.15 trillion baht in tourism revenue. Although this is a significant achievement, it represents a 7.54% decrease in tourist arrivals compared to the same period last year. The top countries contributing visitors were Malaysia, China, India, Russia, and South Korea.

From January 1 to October 12, 2025, according to the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, Thailand saw 25,096,346 foreign visitors. This decrease in numbers coincided with the end of holiday periods in countries such as China and South Korea. The recent week's arrivals fell, with 522,169 international visitors, showing a 13.63% decrease from the previous week.

The top five countries with the most visitors were:

  1. Malaysia: 3,608,943 visitors
  2. China: 3,582,322 visitors
  3. India: 1,850,318 visitors
  4. Russia: 1,319,164 visitors
  5. South Korea: 1,205,556 visitors

Natreeya Taweewong, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, emphasized the impressive tourism spending, with visitors generating approximately 1.159 trillion baht. While the trends were typical for the season due to ending holidays, experts remain hopeful about future stability.

Looking ahead, tourist arrivals are expected to stabilize due to festive seasons like Diwali. Government measures such as waiving the Immigration Form TM6 and encouraging increased airline frequencies are likely to attract more tourists. The start of the high tourism season for long-haul travelers also promises a boost in arrivals.

Key Takeaways

  • Thailand's tourism welcomed over 25 million visitors with significant revenue.
  • Malaysia recorded the highest number of visitors, followed by China.
  • Upcoming festive seasons and government initiatives are expected to stabilize tourist numbers.

Thailand needs to upgrade it's infrastructure and attractions to compete with neighbouring countries.

It's becoming old and tarnished

Thai solution: Tax the foreigners.

The Thai tourist board are  Paranoid over foreign tourist arrivals

Maybe they should look at them selves and ask why the numbers are down

Ie bad publicity always in the headlines

Especially in Pattaya Phuket people getting ripped off violence in the bars could go on

Need to change their image as a family welcoming Country

Here we go again. The hotel owners : Malls : Restaurants : Taxi drivers : Bars : street food sellers Tourist spots, in all of Thailand have not seeing these tourist.

Where are these numbers coming from, has to be the biggest joke around.

There are much better places to visit in this world than expensive Thailand, with their strong baht.

I reckon next week they will be singing a different sound.

So 25 million in the 1st 10 months, but no problem, we will get 12 million more in the next 2 months.

What a joke.

A few people i know who used to visit Thailand yearly are saying they have gone off Thailand and visiting Vietnam this year

Seen loads of them a last week in Dream World and a day after in The Kodtalay The Riverfront restaurant.

Not a fan of where SOME of them are coming from.

Where, and how, are these tourist numbers collected, are returning Thais counted, are transiting tourists counted

25 Million is busy enough, let's hope we don't get back to 40 Million, as was the case six years ago.

We went for 2 weeks to the UK in June

I expect they count our family of 4 as visitors on our return  even though we live here..

Need the baht to drop down to its correct value first but I agree it would be awful.

Covid was the best time and hotels were a bargain.

Thailand is only interested in the fly in-fly out and leave your money behind thank you very much, they have curtailed most of the rights and allowances in banking, in buying properties and in businesses of the long term so called 'Tourists'

simply because the Thai government don't want them, (Us) apparently, owing to a paranoia that foreigners will take over Thailand.
