JD Vance Claims Gaza Ceasefire Surpasses Expectations

The Gaza ceasefire is "going better than expected," according to US Vice-President JD Vance, who is optimistic about the truce's sustainability during his visit to Israel. Despite the progress in the ceasefire, Vance warned that Hamas would face obliteration if it failed to cooperate with the terms of the agreement. US President Trump, who brokered the agreement, stated that allies are prepared to intervene if necessary, following a recent escalation that threatened to disrupt the ceasefire.

The Hamas attack killed two Israeli soldiers, prompting Israeli airstrikes that resulted in the deaths of dozens of Palestinians. In response, Trump conveyed hope for Hamas to make the right decisions while acknowledging the possibility of a severe military response. Vance's visit aims to encourage Israeli PM Netanyahu to engage in talks regarding a permanent resolution to the conflict.

Vance praised Israel's assistance in achieving the ceasefire’s goals but acknowledged more work is required. He was joined by US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner in southern Israel, who are maintaining momentum for the next phase of Trump's 20-point Gaza peace plan. This phase includes proposals for an interim Palestinian government, international stabilisation forces, and the withdrawal of Israeli troops.

There are concerns that Netanyahu might abandon the ceasefire in favour of renewed aggression against Hamas, and discussions with Vance are intended to address both security and political opportunities. to address both security and political opportunities while reinforcing Israel's military stance. More military strikes occurred recently following a Hamas attack, with further casualties reported.

Hamas negotiator Khalil al-Hayya in Cairo assured the group's commitment to fulfilling the ceasefire terms, despite difficulties in recovering the bodies of hostages. Overnight, Hamas returned the body of Israeli Tal Haimi, killed during an October attack, while most hostages' bodies remain unrecovered. Anger grows in Israel as pressure mounts on Hamas to fulfil its commitments.

The UN's World Food Programme highlighted the importance of the ceasefire for continuing humanitarian aid. Since the ceasefire, significant food aid has reached Gaza, but delivery challenges persist due to limited open crossings. While aid efforts continue, uncertainties about supply chains remain due to episodic hostilities.

Key Takeaways:

  • The Gaza ceasefire reportedly exceeded initial expectations.
  • Escalations pose risks, yet diplomatic efforts aim to solidify the truce.
  • Humanitarian challenges persist amidst ongoing political negotiations.

Hopeful that peace breaks out in the Middle East, but frankly when Vance says something is so, it's usually the opposite.

Why on earth would any lucid human being believe anything this administration says…that being said I hope the violence stops.

I'm guessing he doesn't possess the gift of sight or hearing 😳🤯

From what I understand, Kushner, Witkoff and a third person whose name I forgot have been sent to Israel to talk sense into Bibi, as apparently he’s chomping at the bit to throw the agreement out the window and resume the war in Gaza.

The mess in Gaza and the entire region was created and is going on much much much before Trump. Compliments of the USA, UK and France.

Kushner and Witkoff are real estate developers. The glittering prize is contracts/opportunities to reconstruct/develop Gaza.

Graft and immense wealth lie on the horizon. No surprise then that Anthony Lyndon Bair is in the mix somewhere!

As a "sequitor", one can probably expect a significant American military garrison in Gaza to protect these interests...

So they are fighting over about the only part of the Middle East with no oil.

Three points and all wrong. K & W both far more rapport with ME leaders than anyone Democrat administrations.

Tony Blair has continued to build relationships with ME leaders over the years, and understands the details and ramifications much better than some UN socialist. The media pile on after the Iraq WMD (read his many page speech to parliament when he gained the vote to invade) was a precursor to their coverage on ME affairs ever since - naive, ideological and damaging.

Why would the US or Israel wish to have military in Gaza? Israel pulled out, with all the settlers 20 years ago and is far better for Arab nations to try sort out this deranged society.

The luxury Trump Hotel and Casino (Gaza) will no doubt please the Palestinians.

If there’s one society that’s deranged right now it’s the good old US of A. So if you’re American: people who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones comes to mind.

The money is not from oil (they will possibly move on Venezuela for that).

The money they are interested in is from the massive amounts of cash, aide and "reconstruction budgets" which stand waiting to be poured into Gaza. That is why the special envoys are property professionals, not oil company professionals.

Gaza and Venezuela, watch these spaces...

"JD Vance Claims Gaza Ceasefire Surpasses Expectations"

Sure ,when the expectations were not very high to begin with ....

regards Worgeordie

Is this the same J D Vance who said this about trump?........Publicly, he called the Republican businessman an "idiot" and said he was "reprehensible." Privately, he compared him to Adolf Hitler.

So now he "waxes lyrical" about trump and Gaza. What to believe from this 2IC Taco??

Wouldn't hold your breath JD.

If there's one thing that is absolutely certain it is that everything that comes out of Vance's mouth is a lie, so when he says something, just assume the opposite is the truth. That man is as phony as a $3 bill.

Exactly.  I would wager that no one can point to one kernel of truth that anyone in the administration has spoken.  Last night I tried to think of just one true statement that Trump has ever made......and I couldn't.

 Wow, you are the wit.

Not American, though have lived and worked there as well as Canada, England, Vanuatu, Indonesia, Nigeria and my native Australia.

The deranged are from the reeling and sometimes violent left. Clueless, rudderless with inept scheming Dems. Now they're scared <deleted>less that Gaza peace might happen, climate change ain't going to be the doom they've been swallowing for years and the US is going to pull through Trump's manic energy albeit with some horrid turns of phrase, leaving them with little to moan about. Oh, some of the baggage might lose their jobs.

Anyone with an ounce of intelligence knows exactly what Iran, Qatar and co. have done and continue to do.
