A late-night confrontation sparked by a Facebook dispute ended in tragedy when a 37-year-old man was fatally shot in Chanthaburi. The incident occurred at around 23:40 on 23 October 2025 at the entrance of Wang Pla Soi 9 in Tha Chang subdistrict, Mueang Chanthaburi. The suspected shooter, 40-year-old Mr Thawaichai, remained at the scene and surrendered to police, admitting to firing the gun that killed Mr Adisak Photthong.

Police investigators and forensic officers arrived to find Mr Adisak’s body lying on the road with a gunshot wound to the left temple. Two vehicles, a Toyota Altis belonging to the shooter and a Mitsubishi Triton pickup owned by the victim, were parked nearby. The gun, a Glock 19 pistol, was recovered from the scene.

According to preliminary questioning, Mr Thawaichai confessed to firing the shot but claimed it was accidental. He told police that he and the victim had been in a personal dispute that escalated online when Mr Adisak repeatedly posted insulting and provocative messages about him on Facebook. The latest post, shared in a public group, directly mentioned his name and included a challenge to meet in person.

Mr Thawaichai said he went to meet Mr Adisak at Wang Pla Soi 9 to “clear things up.” However, the argument quickly turned violent, leading to a physical fight. During the altercation, the victim allegedly pulled out a long knife and attempted to attack. The suspect claimed he struck the victim in the face with his gun in self-defence, but the weapon discharged accidentally, fatally hitting the victim in the temple.

Police stated that the two men had been in conflict for more than six months, reportedly stemming from accusations by the victim that the suspect had been involved with his former wife. The firearm was seized as evidence, and Mr Thawaichai was taken to Mueang Chanthaburi Police Station for further questioning. Authorities are now conducting a full investigation to determine whether the shooting was indeed accidental or intentional.
