October 27, 2025Oct 27 Cambodia has agreed to eliminate all tariffs on American industrial and agricultural products under a sweeping new trade agreement signed with the United States. The deal, announced on 26 October during the ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur, marks a major shift in bilateral relations and promises unprecedented market access for U.S. exporters. President Donald Trump and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet formalised the Agreement on Reciprocal Trade, which not only removes duties on 100% of U.S. exports to Cambodia but also tackles longstanding non-tariff barriers. Cambodia will now accept U.S. safety and regulatory standards for vehicles, pharmaceuticals and food products, streamlining entry for American goods. The United States, meanwhile, will maintain a 19% tariff on Cambodian imports, with exceptions for selected items listed in recent executive orders. The deal also includes commitments on digital trade, intellectual property, labour rights and environmental enforcement. Cambodia has pledged to uphold international labour standards, combat forced labour, and improve transparency around state-owned enterprises and subsidies. Beyond trade, the agreement expands cooperation on transnational crime. The U.S. will lift its arms embargo on Cambodia and offer more training placements for Cambodian officers at American military academies. Joint efforts will target narcotics traffickers and online scam networks, which cost U.S. citizens billions annually. The White House hailed the deal as a win for American workers and businesses, noting that Cambodia had shown “diligent pursuit of peace and security.” The U.S. currently runs a $12.3 billion goods trade deficit with Cambodia, making this agreement a strategic move to rebalance economic ties. In the coming weeks, both governments will complete domestic procedures to bring the agreement into force. For U.S. exporters—from farmers to aerospace firms—the path to Cambodia’s market has never looked clearer. -2025-10-27 ThaiVisa, c'est aussi en français ThaiVisa, it's also in French

October 28, 2025Oct 28 Alert. Understand these Tariff deals are for Specific, select, sectors, commodities, etc. The Tariff proposal overview, or specifics seem to be harder to locate and review. Human psychology simplifies, looks for yes/no answer, and applies broad general reasoning to some complex information.

And that would be very typical of one of the poorest negotiators in American political history.

For reference regarding the Cambodian PM (Google) Hun Manet is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point. He was the first Cambodian to graduate from the academy, earning a bachelor's degree in economics in 1999.
October 29, 2025Oct 29 Nice to see that they've made a deal. I'm looking forward to seeing more American products when shopping in Cambodia.
