A 46-year-old construction worker died on 7 November 2025 after a heavy concrete slab fell on him at a condominium site in Rat Burana district, Bangkok. The incident occurred around 15:25, at a 20-storey building under construction, leaving the victim trapped under the slabs while a colleague narrowly escaped.

Authorities, including Ratchaburana Police and forensic doctors from Siriraj Hospital, responded to the scene along with volunteers from the Poh Teck Tung Foundation. The victim, identified as Mr. Kittisak from Chiang Rai, was found lying on his back with severe head injuries, his helmet displaced and the slabs weighing up to 2 tons on top of him.

A 30-year-old colleague, Mr. Chaiwiwat, described helping to guide the pallet of concrete slabs onto the higher levels, when the crane’s lifting chain failed at the 13th floor. The colleague looked up in time and avoided the falling load, but Mr. Kittisak was unable to move out of the way. In total, eight pallets weighing approximately 20 tons had been lifted earlier that day without incident.

Police are investigating the crane operator and equipment to determine whether negligence or mechanical failure caused the incident. Authorities plan to interview staff and review safety procedures to hold responsible parties accountable.
