Trump Dragged Back Into Epstein Scandal As New Emails Land On Hill

Thousands of newly released House Oversight documents have yanked Donald Trump back into the Epstein orbit, after emails written by Jeffrey Epstein himself claimed the future president “knew” about the sexual abuse of underage girls — while insisting Trump never took part.

The bombshell material, released Wednesday, includes a 2019 email Epstein wrote to himself declaring: “Trump knew of it … He never got a massage.” The claim directly contradicts Trump’s longstanding insistence that he had no idea about Epstein’s abuse before the financier’s 2008 plea deal. Trump has repeatedly said their friendship fizzled years earlier over a Palm Beach property dispute and Epstein poaching staff from Mar-a-Lago.

The new tranche landed just as Democrats secured the 218th signature needed to force a House vote demanding the Trump administration release sealed DOJ files on Epstein. Republicans say the White House is “scrambling” to block it.

Epstein’s emails also described conversations with Ghislaine Maxwell and author Michael Wolff, suggesting Trump was aware of Maxwell’s recruitment of girls — including Virginia Giuffre, the former Mar-a-Lago spa attendant who died by suicide this year. Epstein claimed Trump spent time with the girl at his home, a point Democrats say investigators inexplicably ignored.

Trump hit back instantly, calling the renewed scrutiny a “Democrat Epstein Hoax” designed to bury headlines about the now-resolved 43-day government shutdown. The White House further insisted Trump banned Epstein from his properties in 2007 for being a “creep.”

Complicating Trump’s denials is a purportedly Trump-authored note in Epstein’s 2003 birthday book — a sexually suggestive message with a sketch of a woman’s body. Trump has sued the Wall Street Journal for reporting it; House Democrats say they’ve obtained the document.

The Oversight Committee continues to subpoena DOJ files, release transcripts with former prosecutors, and dig into what Democrats call an “extraordinary, coordinated cover-up.” With both parties now weaponizing the scandal, the political fallout shows no sign of cooling.

Key Takeaways

  • Newly released emails show Epstein claiming Trump “knew” about the abuse but never participated.

  • Democrats force a vote to compel release of Epstein investigative files; GOP says White House tried to stop it.

  • Previous Trump denials complicated by documents, Giuffre references, and a disputed birthday-book note.
