UN Security Council Backs US Plan for Lasting Peace in Gaza

The UN Security Council has approved a US-crafted resolution supporting lasting peace and reconstruction efforts in Gaza. The resolution passed with 13 votes in favour and abstentions from Russia and China, endorsing the US president's 20-point Gaza plan that initiated last month's ceasefire. The move includes international legitimacy for a “Board of Peace” and a temporary International Stabilization Force (ISF) in Gaza.

The plan aims to rebuild Gaza while pursuing Palestinian statehood once reforms progress. Notably, it authorises the Board of Peace to disarm Hamas and coordinate Gaza's redevelopment. Endorsed by US President Donald Trump, the resolution facilitates a dialogue between Israel and the Palestinians for peaceful coexistence.

US Ambassador to the UN, Michael Waltz, highlighted the ISF’s role, which includes peacekeepers from Muslim-majority countries like Indonesia. They will work under a unified command to oversee demilitarisation and protect civilians. Meanwhile, critics question the plan's lack of detail, citing difficulties in execution.

Hamas expressed concerns, viewing the initiative as biased and against Gaza's autonomy. They warned against the ISF's involvement in disarmament, fearing it compromises neutrality. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu remains firm about Gaza’s demilitarisation, emphasising disarmament as a necessity, according to CNN.

Despite the resolution's approval, implementation challenges remain due to its vague details. The US has not yet detailed the Palestinian Authority's reform program, leaving important aspects unclear. The resolution’s success hinges on addressing these ambiguities and achieving cooperation from involved parties.

Key Takeaways:

UN approves US-backed resolution for peace and rebuilding in Gaza.
Plan includes ISF deployment and potential Palestinian statehood.
Implementation faces challenges due to ambiguous details.

potential Palestinian statehood

Which is against Trump's agenda, particularly as Israel continues to commit war crimes against the Palestinian people.

Regarding reform of the Palestinian Authority, there was reference somewhere to a Trump plan from 2020. In this plan. the PA shall "take no action, and shall dismiss all pending actions, against the State of Israel, the United States and any of their citizens before the International Criminal Court, the International Court of Justice, and all other tribunals" and "take no action against any Israeli or United States citizen before Interpol or any non-Israeli or United States (as applicable) legal system".

The idea is for the Palestinians to give up any legal recourse for the actions of not only the IDF but also American settlers in the West Bank, it seems to me. I suppose that Palestinian individuals, especially those also being American citizens, could sue in US courts. Could they make criminal complaints against American settlers and funders of settlements?

Off topic but elated.

I've done several searches in the last 48 hrs looking for any new information about returning the last 3 Israeli hostages (now deceased) to Israel.

Anybody seen anything new very recently?

Trump wants peace but off he gets heavy with the  criminals running Israel, the Jewish lobby will give him hell. It's embarrassing for Americans how much money is being pumped into that lobby. Israel is of absolutely no use to the US, it a handful of Jewish Americans working with Israel who force this unconditional support.

Obviously no sane US president would support this without the Lobby pressure/money.

Miriam Adelson and her late husband alone gave Trump $400 million. Shouldn't be allowed.

Only one to talk the truth was the only US president who wanted peace.

The only US president with balls to speak against the lobby.
