Police in Kamphaeng Phet have arrested a 19-year-old man accused of killing and burning his 18-year-old friend, after a body reduced to skeletal remains was discovered in an abandoned wooden house near a canal in Lan Dok Mai, Mueang District. Officers from Mueang Kamphaeng Phet Police Station launched an immediate investigation when the charred remains were found in the house on rural farmland. The case drew significant attention due to the condition of the body and uncertainty over the identity of the victim, leading authorities to treat the incident as homicide.

The breakthrough came on 26 November 2025, when investigators, led by Police Colonel Nek Chansorn and Police Lieutenant Colonel Pairach Srijaiwong, detained a suspect identified as “Bank”, aged 19, under an arrest warrant. Police had traced him as the person who collected the victim, “Not” aged 18, on 12 November 2025, shortly before the victim disappeared. The arrest took place at a residence in Nong Pling, Mueang District, after officers gathered evidence linking him to the crime scene.

During initial questioning, the suspect denied involvement, claiming he was a friend of the victim and had no knowledge of the death. Officers then presented further evidence and instructed him to swear an oath, prompting him to confess. He admitted he had picked up the victim on his motorcycle as usual and during the journey allowed the victim to take over driving, before the victim turned into the area where the body was later found.

According to his statement, the victim told him he was delivering illegal drugs, triggering an argument as the suspect claimed he disliked drugs and had no involvement with them. A physical altercation followed, and the victim allegedly pushed the motorcycle onto him. The suspect said the victim then drew a knife, which he wrestled away before accidentally striking the victim’s neck, causing a fatal wound. He stated that the victim attempted to stem the bleeding before dying in front of him.

The suspect told police he lifted the body and pushed it through a window into the knock-down house before fleeing. He claimed he later returned after buying fuel worth 50 baht, poured it over the body from head to toe and set it alight inside the structure. He admitted disposing of the knife and fuel container, as well as burning the clothes he wore during the incident. Police continue to examine evidence, including previous reports from relatives who identified the victim by a pendant after he had been missing for more than ten days.

Khoasod reported that investigators are now working to complete the case file and prepare further legal action. Forensic examinations and additional witness statements are expected to form part of the next steps. Police have not announced any additional suspects and are proceeding to submit findings for prosecution.
