Police conducted a major operation in Thailand, targeting counterfeit goods production and distribution, seizing over 240,000 items. Raids were carried out at seven sites in Lopburi, Nonthaburi, Nakhon Pathom, Pathum Thani, and Bangkok. The operation was part of an ongoing effort to curb the surge of fake consumer products in the market.

The raids stemmed from investigations following arrests of vendors selling fake food items like soy sauce and instant coffee. The network allegedly placed counterfeit labels on these products to deceive consumers. Police followed the supply chain to a production site in Lopburi and additional storage across the region.

During the operations, law enforcement discovered and seized approximately 118,100 counterfeit labels and considerable quantities of fake soy sauce along with raw materials. This included ready-made soy sauce in large mixing tanks, bottles, and various food additives. These items posed potential health risks as they were produced in unsanitary conditions.

Authorities revealed the group's method involved collecting used bottles, cleaning, and refilling them with fraudulent products for sale, especially targeting shops in the Isaan region. Concerns were raised about safety standards, as the items differed in color, smell, and quality, posing risks of heavy metal contamination.

The number of suspects taken into custody has not been disclosed. Those involved are looking at charges under the Trademark Act and Food Act. The police stressed the importance of vigilance, advising the public and business operators to purchase from trusted sources and to thoroughly check product labels and packaging.

Looking forward, authorities are expected to intensify efforts to dismantle other similar networks. The CIB’s call for increased public awareness aims to prevent further distribution of harmful goods. These efforts align with broader campaigns to improve consumer safety standards, reported The Thaiger.

  • Police seized over 240,000 counterfeit goods across multiple provinces.

Add HP Sauce to that list. There's a batch of that goop hitting restaurants in Pattaya. The bottle and label are done well but the stuff inside pours like mucus from an inflamed bowel.
