A California doctor, Salvador Plasencia, has been sentenced to 30 months in federal prison for supplying ketamine to Friends star Matthew Perry, marking the first sentence in the actor's overdose death. Plasencia, known as "Dr P," was charged alongside four others after a federal investigation into Perry's acquisition of the anaesthetic through Hollywood's underground drug network. Perry, 54, was found dead at his Los Angeles home in 2023, having battled depression and addiction for years.

 

In court, Perry's family called for a severe sentence, labelling Plasencia as the "most culpable" for supplying drugs that contributed to Perry's struggles. In their emotional impact statement, Perry's mother and step-father, Keith Morrison, expressed their devastation at his loss, describing his hopes for recovery and a return to acting. They lamented the circumstances, saying, "He wanted, needed, deserved... a third act."

 

Plasencia apologised in a letter to the judge, acknowledging his responsibility in Perry's death. Despite recognising Perry's addiction signs, he cited financial struggles at his clinic as motivation. Plasencia voluntarily surrendered his medical licence following his arrest and has left the medical profession.

 

Court documents revealed that Perry initially used legal amounts of ketamine for depression treatment but sought more, which led him to multiple doctors and the "Ketamine Queen," who ran a drug emporium from her home. Plasencia allegedly injected Perry with ketamine at his home and elsewhere and taught Perry's assistant how to administer it, selling them additional supplies.

 

From late September to mid-October 2023, Plasencia reportedly sold Perry and his assistant numerous vials of ketamine, ketamine lozenges, and syringes. Prosecutors argued that those involved exploited Perry's addiction for financial gain, reported the BBC.

Should have stuck to supplying non-famous people, nobody would have cared. 

 

Perry is responsible for his own death. Like many Liberals, he couldn't control his own self loathing and self pity and eventually it destroyed him. 

Makes you wonder - are the Venezuelans responsible for addiction or American doctors.

Well, I always find it ridiculous when they blame the dealer. Perry decided to go down rhat route and paid the price.

 

Having said that, there's a big difference between a brewery legally brewing beer and selling it and a doctor selling drugs under the table to a known addict for monetary reasons and on top of that also administering  said drug intravenously to get him high! What he did was illegal and now he goes to prison.

Every one of them are reduced to a slur against “ Liberals, lefties and libtards etc”.

If the self loathing gets too strong i suggest you avoid going down the route of Mr Perry. Nobody would jail your dealer.
