Safe deposit boxes in Thai banks?

Featured Replies

Do they exist?

Most stand alone banks have safe deposit boxes but they are very difficult to obtain. Most banks save them for high income Thais.

I have one at kasikorn bank, Pattaya, since around 2008.

At the time, I think I had to pay 1000 baht, this would be returned when finished using the box and keys returned, also I was asked to get an additional credit card, a Wisdom card .

There's a yearly charge 2000 baht.

They do exist, but there are extremely long waiting lists to obtain them.

Recommend if you aren't a VIP bank customer you consider some of the private box services in Bangkok. Small boxes at around 3500 baht per year. Cheaper at the banks, but generally not available to mere mortals.

What would you want to put in the box btw ? 😜

I got my annual fee for kasikorn safety box deducted yesterday.

There are 3 sizes of safety boxes housed within the vault, I have middle size.

So slightly more for larger sizes and slightly less for smaller sizes

I think I’d like to have one to hold larger amounts of cash and jewelry, but not sure if it is still under the million baht coverage per bank. If anyone knows , I’d appreciate it.

At bangkok bank in Bangkok its difficult to get one. Not many places have available.
I had to take out a life assurance policy to get one, at bangkok bank Bangkapi branch near Nana BTS.
The policy is not bad, returns a good interest rate compared to normal accounts.
Annual charge for the  box is 2000 Baht.
