Prachuap hotels

If you knew any gems let me know.

I'm assuming you mean PKK municipality ... bold text, only 2 we've stayed at

... Thur GH was our 'go to' since 2015-2017, before renting & building house

... Hadthong Hotel, older, small rooms, refurbished recent.  Small pool to cool off in. 'The View' restaurant with better view *above street level), mediocre food & service (hit & miss), closest to weekend market.

... Zea Zide Hotel, newest, looks nice, and seems popular

... Golden Beach Boutique Resort, north side of bay, close to best surfside restaurant, Talay Rap Lom Restaurant & 7-11 (<200m), furthest away from main surf side part of town.  Better surfside sitting, no sewer smells.

There's also hotel at Ao Manao bay, but need to call in advance for specifics, unless you can book online.  Only stayed there once, long time ago, and surely refurbished.

Golden Beach looks nice but is it isolated? Ive stayed at Sun Beach before and just north of there.

Palm Sweet Hotel looks nice too.

I will hire a bike so dont have to be central.

Ban Krut beach is nicer but I found the hotels are a rip off there and less restaurants.

Prachuap has nice restaurants and cafes plus good walking.

I might go back to Cha-am too. Been many years.

... if have bike, then not isolated, and lots of food now on north side, though haven's sampled.  One & Only has decent curry

... actually stayed there, long time ago, very small room if memory serves.

Golden Beach looks the best room in that price range. Maybe try there first.

I will give Ban Krut another try too.

Seascape Resort Ban Krut is under 1000 baht. It looks ok.

Cafe de Wa, (Ban Krut) has decent food, decent prices, AC, but resort next to it, overpriced, but very nice.

Any thoughts on Bang Saphan Yai?

Not a fan of the area, and actually stayed there a month back, just reaffirming my opinion.

If going, and have transport, I'd pick Bo Thong Lang Bay area, as picturesque, vs just long boring beach.  Suda Villa might be a good choice, as we wanted to stay there, but not pet friendly.   Decent coffee shop next door, Au Coffee, when stock is in.

We stayed around the headland at a strange place.  Comfy & cheap, quiet and didn't feel like looking any further.  Came with brekkie, which she just dropped off at 'kitchen / dining' area, even though I was sitting on the in front of bungalow.   A good thing, as she didn't say anything, and hard to miss me, as only people staying there.

Ok brekkie, delivered cold, though not an issue, as we travel with microwave.

Really good restaurant, 'follow me cafe', near place we stayed, further south over bridge.  Surprised as didn't look like much beside a small coffee shop with view of mediocre surf.

Ok thanks. I will do Cha-am instead.

Yikes, definitely not a fan of Cha Am, and one of the worse 'popular' beaches on the gulf IMHO.

If going, thought 'Furama Xclusive Sandara',  was OK place to stay, years past, with quiet (if no kids) rooftop pool. Also have another pool with direct access rooms.

Was last time at Cha Am, and really don't care for the place.

Maybe busy on weekends, but just one ugly beach, with good portion lined with ugly seating & umbrellas, and the rest, a parking lot, with scattered vendors.  Really unappealing.

No thanks ...

To some thats 'culture'.

2 definates are prachuap and ban krut. Both light traffic so easy riding. Prachuap is good walking too. HH is spread out with traffic but a decent 3rd choice. Gyms in HH are good and cheap rooms too.

How are you getting to HH or PKK, as the train is quite convenient, and short walking distance to surfside for both.

Ban Krut, walkable, ~1 km, although Cha Am, a bit further, ~2 km if not overpriced taxis available.

Train from Krung Thep to pkk. Yuttichai Hotel nearby good start can walk. Then hire motorbike. Check out 4 or 5 hotels. Try a couple. Then train Ban Krut. Ban Krut has tuk tuks not sure if Grab yet. Stay near beach but get a motorbike.

Then probably train to Hua Hin. There is a gym there i like with strong men stuff. Hua Hin has Bolt and Grab.

It’s nice stretch from Pranburi down to Chumphon, so take your time and just google your price range out of 100´s of nice beach resorts. We have stayed here a few times in the city for a decent price and nice view, but old hotel. Anyway they always been nice to us, and let us park inside under roof with our motorbikes. The breakfast wasn’t especially good, so better find a coffe place on the road if start early, or just at one of the beach cafes when open.
