An orange cat stranded over 10 meters high on a concrete bridge pillar in Samut Prakan was successfully rescued around 7 PM on January 11. After locals heard its cries for two days, the Dan Samrong Subdistrict Municipality dispatched a cherry picker truck to retrieve the feline from beneath the Si Thepha overpass along Srinagarindra Road.

Residents pinpointed the cries to the pillar, prompting the operation reported by CH7 News. Authorities temporarily closed the center traffic lane to deploy the cherry picker. Two rescue workers used a large net to reach the cat.

The cat willingly jumped into the net, much to the relief of gathered onlookers. The mission, lasting about 30 minutes, concluded with the discovery that the cat was healthy, plump, and wearing a blue collar, indicating it might be someone's pet. A local volunteer is currently caring for the cat while efforts are made to find its owner.

Authorities speculate the cat may have been startled by New Year fireworks or accidentally rode in a vehicle before ending up on the pillar. A resident, who first heard the cat, explained he had searched in vain the previous day but finally spotted it during an evening search and alerted authorities.

In a similar incident in April, an earthquake-surviving cat was discovered over a week later by a rescue dog amidst search operations. The rescue sparked a public interest in animal resilience, reported The Thaiger.
