A tourist was found dead inside Ayutthaya Historical Park on the morning of January 19, with police confirming the incident as a suicide. Authorities discovered a farewell letter and a sharp object at the scene, leading to this conclusion. The discovery was made at around 7:30 a.m. in Ban Pom subdistrict, within Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya district.

Police, medical staff, and rescue workers responded promptly to the site. The deceased, identified as 51-year-old Kanyanat from Sisaket province, was found leaning against an ancient structure. Significant blood loss resulted from wounds on her left arm caused by a sharp object.

Among her belongings were an ID card, life insurance card, prescribed medication, a box cutter, a ticket for park entry dated January 18, and a handwritten farewell letter. The letter advised her family to sell her sewing machines to settle debts and provided contact details for relatives.

A site caretaker noted routine patrols were conducted overnight, with no unusual activity detected until Kanyanat was found around 6 a.m. Investigators contacted her niece, mentioned in the letter, who confirmed Kanyanat's longstanding kidney condition and financial stress related to her sewing business in Min Buri, Bangkok.

The niece revealed Kanyanat had spoken about her financial worries and intentions regarding her belongings if something happened to her. Kanyanat had also informed relatives of her plan to visit Ayutthaya for tourism and temple visits.

A preliminary medical examination concluded death by blood loss from self-inflicted injuries, estimating she had been deceased for seven to eight hours before being discovered. Her body was subsequently transported to the Institute of Forensic Science in Pathum Thani for further examination, reported The Thaiger.
