A 57-year-old woman who had gone missing from her home was found dead after drowning in a concrete water filled well shaft in Ron Phibun district, Nakhon Si Thammarat, causing shock among her relatives and local residents. Police confirmed there were no signs of assault and the death is believed to have been accidental.

The incident was reported on 26 January 2026, when Pol Sub Lt Anuchat Borisut, an investigator at Ron Phibun Police Station, received a report of a woman’s body discovered submerged in a concrete water shaft. The shaft was located in a garden area in Moo 3, Hin Tok subdistrict, Ron Phibun district.

Police officers attended the scene together with a doctor from Ron Phibun Hospital and rescue workers from the Pracha Ruam Jai Foundation. The rescue team descended into the shaft to recover the body for examination at the scene. The deceased was later identified as a 57-year-old woman who lived in Moo 9 of Hin Tok subdistrict, Ron Phibun district, Nakhon Si Thammarat.

An initial examination by police and medical personnel found no wounds, injuries, or signs of physical assault on the body. There were no indications of a struggle or the involvement of other individuals. The scene was documented and processed in line with standard investigative procedures.

According to preliminary enquiries, the woman had left her home earlier without informing her family and her whereabouts were unknown. She was later found by a member of the public lying in the water-filled concrete shaft, which is situated within a garden belonging to a local resident.

Investigators believe the woman may have wandered into the garden area and accidentally fallen into the shaft. Due to the depth and vertical structure of the concrete shaft, she was reportedly unable to escape or help herself, resulting in drowning. This assessment was based on the condition of the scene and the absence of suspicious evidence.

Police stated that the woman’s relatives did not raise any objections or concerns regarding the cause of death. After the post-mortem examination and forensic procedures were completed, the body was formally released to the family.

SiamNews reported that the family has since taken the body to make funeral arrangements. Police confirmed that no further legal action is anticipated unless new information comes to light.
