AirAsia has issued an apology after 23 passengers were inadvertently left on a shuttle bus during boarding for a flight from Bangkok to Hat Yai on January 17. Flight FD3116 was scheduled to depart from Don Mueang International Airport at 7:10 am but experienced a delay. The situation came to light when an elderly passenger notified the crew that her friend, who had checked in, was missing from the boarded passengers.

The aircraft began taxiing but returned to the gate at 7:45 am to allow the delayed passengers to board. The incident was detailed in a Facebook post by a passenger on January 28, revealing a lack of final passenger headcount before departure. The post criticized the airline for not ensuring all checked-in passengers were on board.

The delay lasted approximately 36 minutes, affecting the flight's overall schedule. AirAsia confirmed the issue was due to a coordination and communication error among staff. The airline reported 136 passengers were eventually on board and emphasized their commitment to preventing similar situations.

AirAsia has since investigated the incident and stated they would tighten oversight measures. The airline reassured passengers that they have taken corrective action according to company policy and aim to enhance procedures.

Looking forward, AirAsia plans to adopt new strategies to improve passenger management and reduce the potential for boarding errors. The airline has promised to reinforce staff training and implement advanced monitoring systems, reported The Thaiger.

Key Takeaways

  • 23 passengers missed boarding due to a coordination issue but were eventually allowed on the plane.

  • AirAsia admitted the error and took steps to prevent future incidents.

  • The airline has pledged stricter measures to enhance their boarding process.
