We knew Israel were going to launch an attack......and knew that Iran would retaliate, not only against Israel, but also the US.....so we decided it was best to join in the attack, so the impact of any retaliation against the US would be reduced.

So not nuclear weapon concerns (those facilities were obliterated remember), not regime change, as you just get a knew leader........but to reduce the impact of any retaliation.

If as you say Saudi is funding Terroists groups America and the UK must be aiding the Saudis because we supply them with fighters and other weapons. Its doubtful we would in the UK be delivering Typhoon jets to a country funding terroism.
