DSWD spokesperson Irene Dumlao emphasized the agency's preparedness, highlighting available resources should repatriation be necessary due to the conflict's escalation.Get today's headlines by email In collaboration with the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), the DSWD is actively monitoring the situation to stay abreast of developments impacting OFWs. The agency has several support programs, such as the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS), designed to aid returning OFWs and their families. These programs include psychosocial support to alleviate the stress or trauma they may face upon their return.Dumlao elaborated that in addition to AICS, livelihood assistance could be made available for those OFWs who decide on repatriation. She reassured that the DSWD maintains ongoing coordination with the DMW and other government bodies to deliver comprehensive support. This collaborative effort ensures that OFWs receive both immediate and long-term assistance.Looking forward, the DSWD plans to continue its close cooperation with relevant government departments to enhance the assistance framework for OFWs.
