Absolutely...the cabin baggage scanner summoned a guy who was joined immediately by another who asked how much cash I had......opened bag at same time grabbing the bank receipts and they were gone in seconds

£1000 is the limit at which they "can" ask questions as to origins and answering won it on the dogs is not the right answer lol

Declaration level was 10,000 Euro (yep note the different currency)....not sure if thats reverted to equivalent in Sterling since we final left the EU

My 1st trip to Pakistan & as I was watching my suitcase come around the carousel some guy picked it up, studiously checked the labels (Business Class Tags so I guess he thought it was worth it) then gave himself a thumbs up as he put it on his trolley.

His face when he tried to walk past me, I picked him up by the throat & said... MINE!!!

Apparently luggage theft is rampant in Karachi... Should have reported him but he ran off before I could do anything.

I always bring £4-5,000 back from the UK in the hidden back pocket of my rucksack (which has got 3 thumbs down so far) & never have a problem with it going through the X-Rays.

I know they can see it as I once got stopped in the full body scanners (I think it was Munich, might have been Helsinki) for having a £20 note in my shirt pocket... The guy said to me that when they said everything needed to go through the scanner, they meant everything.

I would have never left it off my person. Just too risky these days. Better safe than sorry and 200,000 Baht can easily be packed on your body.

Doesn't the Thai government set limits on how much money can be transported on domestic flights?

Reports of luggage theft in many US airports where the thieves who work in the airport have the TSA master key.

Also have heard of thefts of non secured luggage (either luggage in canvas or not properly locked), in areas like Amsterdam, and of course Heathrow. Also had read of issues in Budapest/Hungary.

So Thailand, for the moment, is no worse then the rest of the world when it comes to thieves who linger in airports or who work in airports.

Wherever possible I get to the carousel at the earliest opportunity...fast walk to immigration hopefully shortest queue and I dont stand anywhere at Carousel but I stand at exact spot the bags come off the chute

Foolproof to avoid any deliberate or accidental picking up of wrong bag

I've taken now to using an old Green Antler bag and tie pink string around grab handle.....its not the prettiest lol but the chances of it going astray is zero !

That's how I immediately knew one of my luggage was forgotten in Doha as soon as I landed in Rio de Janeiro. What an amazing place!

Kudo's to this smart thinking pax, being aware of the suspicious guy, checking his money as soon as possible, and getting the thief caught!

To all the guys putting him down, it could have been a night flight when banks are closed, not easy to deposit 200k in an ATM, many things we don't know.

One thing we DO know is, without his quick thinking and actions, the thief would have now been enjoying his ill-gotten gains!!!
