Philippines Secures Passage for Vessels in Iran's Strait of Hormuz

Iran has promised the Philippines safe passage for its vessels and seafarers through the Strait of Hormuz, aiming to alleviate the country’s escalating energy crisis. Foreign Affairs Secretary Theresa Lazaro received the assurance during a call with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi on April 2. Tehran's commitment is crucial for Manila, which has faced supply disruptions and soaring oil prices due to a blockade of the strait since early March.

The promise from Iran comes at a critical time for the Philippines, which relies on the Middle East for 98% of its crude oil imports. The effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz has severely impacted supply lines, threatening energy security. In a statement, the Department of Foreign Affairs emphasized the importance of Iran's pledge for the safety of Filipino seafarers and the steady flow of essential energy supplies.

Iran’s agreement to allow Philippine-flagged vessels through the strait mirrors similar arrangements with China, Russia, India, Iraq, and Pakistan. The commitments have been extended to nations Iran views as non-belligerent. This diplomatic success provides the Philippines with some relief, although broader regional tensions remain.

Despite the diplomatic breakthrough with Iran, challenges persist, especially since the United States, a key ally to the Philippines, initiated the actions that led to the strait's blockade. US military efforts to reopen the strait have yet to succeed. As the situation develops, Manila will need to navigate its relations carefully with both Washington and Tehran.

Add Thailand to the list whose oil tanker should arrive in Thailand within the next two weeks.

Iran has been offering passage for $1-2 million USD but no mention of any fee from Thailand or any of the aforementioned nations. Likely Iran will apply the fee to (previously?) nations aligned with the US Trump regime. Clever initiative by Iran as its hard for the US to bomb diplomacy.

The convicted felon con man continues to play checkers while Iran plays chess.

I think that Irans oil payday will end soon as Trump has10 battle ships with thousands of troops ready to take over where the oil refeinery is . or blow it up completely. They have already destroyed the military base there. watch this space.

Unlikely as Trump has allowed Iran to sell oil to Russia and China.

He has told "Allies" the US is out of the picture with regards to Hormuz Strait shipping and demands "Allies" step in to police the Strait (they refused).

PS1: Iran doesn't need an oil refinery to export bulk oil. Importers do.

PS2: Canada was the source of 52% of U.S. gross total petroleum imports and 60% of gross crude oil imports. Guess what Canada has done since in response to Trump's threats and aggressive behavior towards Canada after assessing Canada with tariffs and threats against its sovereignty - Canada will sell internationally to ITS ALLIES and likely China.

Goes to show the economic concept and benefits of globalisation lack the idea of security. ..Governments and their short term selfish political agends have created this situation. Diversification is key to a sustainable business model.

Just like Iraq and Afghanistan in recent history. And before that Vietnam and Korea.

You Trump fans should try to spend more time on education and reading and less time on self pity, racism and insecurity.

And for grown ass men to support a Pedophile who wear orange makeup and his Pedophile administration tells the rest of the world all we need to know about your cult mentality.

MAGA supports an ignorant Pedophile who lies daily. No one is afraid of you and no one respects you. You are all losers and parrots that spouted “it is Biden fault” and then giggle like underage girls. Pathetic.

If the Philippines can get permission from Iran to use the straights without hassle why can't dozens of ther countries including Thailand?

Thailand already did and Iran says they will let ships through that are not from countries trying to 'bomb them back to the stone age' as long as they pay a fee in Chinese Yuan not US dollars.

Yep the Canadian Prime Minister has an allie in China's Xi Jingpin as they are best mates now so he should be able to strike a good deal with oil. Eegarding the oil refinery on Kharg Island that Trump want's to blow up that is the scource of petrolium products to run their military assets and of course very important to them.
