US Pilots On The Run In Iran After Jet Shot Down

F15.jpg

Two American pilots are on the run inside Iran after their F-15 fighter jet was shot down — with Tehran now offering cash rewards for their capture in a chilling escalation of the war.

Iranian state media broadcast images of what it claims is the jet’s ejection seat, alongside debris from the downed aircraft, while urging civilians to help track down the missing aircrew. Viewers were told to report sightings — with some broadcasts going further, telling citizens to “shoot them” if spotted.

A US official confirmed a search-and-rescue operation is underway, though the Pentagon and US Central Command have yet to issue formal statements.

Hunt Underway In Rugged Terrain

The aircraft is believed to have gone down in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad province — a remote, mountainous region deep within the Zagros range, where survival and evasion become a race against time.

Military experts say downed pilots are trained for exactly this scenario: evade, hide, and signal.

“They carry locator beacons, survival kits, even weapons,” one Western pilot said. “First priority is staying out of sight while guiding rescue teams in.”

But the terrain — vast, rural, and unforgiving — combined with an active manhunt, dramatically raises the stakes.

Iranian reports suggest a bounty of up to $60,000 has been placed on the pilots’ heads.

First US Jet Downed In War

The incident marks the first confirmed downing of a US warplane since the conflict began — a symbolic and strategic blow after repeated claims by Donald Trump that Iran’s military had been effectively neutralised.

So far, at least 13 US service members have been killed and more than 300 wounded in the campaign.

Despite heavy bombardment, intelligence assessments indicate Iran still retains significant missile and drone capabilities, with large portions of its arsenal either intact or unaccounted for.

Escalation Risk Surges

The hunt for the missing pilots risks becoming a flashpoint.

Any successful Iranian capture — or worse — would mark a major propaganda victory for Tehran and could trigger a sharp escalation from Washington.

For now, US aircraft are reported to be flying low over the in a desperate effort to locate the crew before Iranian forces — or civilians chasing a payday — get there first.

The clock is ticking.

What the hell are you on about? Obsessed, absolutely obsessed.

Don't you think they might be upset that he's been bombing them? That he's part of the illegal war, that he is part of the war machine that killed a bunch of schoolgirls and is destroying civilian infrastructure?

Or do they consult the media to see what to believe? Their own eyes are not enough?

If only they exclusively watch Fox News they would treat him nicely, is that what you are saying? You make no sense.

More than a bunch of schoolgirls. At least 165.

These captured terrorist USA pilots should be put in a room with the fathers of these slaughtered 165 teenage girls.

US fighter jet shot down by Iran came from British base in Suffolk, says IRGC

The incident puts a spotlight on RAF Lakenheath in eastern England, which the US is believed to be using to launch attacks on Iran.

It has been widely reported that US bombers have been using a base in Gloucestershire in southwest England, RAF Fairford, to launch bombing missions over Iran.

But a new incident has put a spotlight on another, less well-known, base in England that the US military is also believed to be using to attack Iran: RAF Lakenheath in Suffolk, eastern England.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said on Friday that its air defences shot down a US F-35 fighter jet over central Iran that came from a squadron based at RAF Lakenheath.

According to the IRGC, an "LN" tail code could be seen on the wreckage, which identified the jet as belonging to the 48th Fighter Wing in the 493rd Fighter Squadron at Lakenheath.

If the pilot is captured and held hostage by Iran, it will be a PR nightmare for Trump and Hegseth, after their boasts of aerial supremacy.

If the pilot is unlucky enough to be captured, his future in Iranian hands won’t be pleasant.

Would Trump negotiate a release?

Given his 'I like people who weren’t captured' line about war hero John McCain, hope may not spring eternal.

Hopefully the pilots won't do something stupid like killing a Iranian civilian. I'd like to see Iran capture these pilots as it would put public pressure on the White House to end this nonsense and pull out. Like Vietnam, the US public only comes to their senses when they see pictures of body bags and captured airmen/airwomen.

Keeping even a single hostage would only do more harm. Do you think Trump would act any differently from the Israelis?

Let’s hope the pilot gets out of there unharmed, and let’s hope this war ends as quickly as possible.

Somebody needs to impeach those idiots in the White House as soon as possible too. Under the War Powers Resolution, a president generally cannot keep U.S. forces in hostilities for more than 60 days without congressional authorization, although there are legal and political arguments about how that rule applies in practice.

Huh? Haven't pilots already dropped bombs and killed a multitude of innocent civilians? Are you implying it's smart to kill remotely but stupid to do it while each can see the whites of the other's eyes?

Woefully we are seeing that TACO doesn't nullify FAFO.

Trump will just call him a loser for getting captured.

I agree that it is highly likely that he will make such a statement if the unfortunate person is captured!

Yeah had he been a better pilot then he would have been no match for Iran's destroyed "100% bigly" air defences. Loser. When he gets back to the US if he does he should face a court martial and fining for allowing US kit to get destroyed Probably had their head filled with robopen Biden's woke DEI policies rather than learning how to fly.

I think the last thing a pilot shot down would think of doing is harm an innocent. more likely he'll hope for a sympathetic one towards the US, of which there are many, much like the Wahlburg movie Lone Survivor. I think if captured, Iran wouldn't make the mistake of hurting him, as it would unleash more hell, and with more hell comes more casualties on both sides. The US public doesn't want this war but terrorism stopped, as any sane person would. Many Iranians live in the US and are accepted, and you can see from their celebrations they want the regime changed.

Rescue...in Iran?!? In the mountains?!? 55555

If he survives, he'll be treated as well as any POW.

Shame on the UK for allowing American fighters to use their bases. Are they learning TACO from Trump?
