The only thing I do is drive is the driving and the bank letter.

Having your wife do pretty much all might work for some.

For others wife attendance at immigration and home visit if they have one + under consideration period etc is pain for some.

I think that includes the return visit to the office after getting the 'under consideration' stamp to get the full extension stamped in the passport.

For someone with options... Both married to Thai and also retirement option then DTV not best option IMO.

Marriage, 2X a year, why ? @The Cobra never read source of funds being an issue, just from overseas. Retirement via monthly income transfer deposit the easiest.

I should have stipulated: If you're married, live with your wife, are on speaking terms with your wife, AND your wife wants you to remain in Thailand, hove your wife do it.

I think you fail to take into consideration that Thais in general - and Thai wives in particular - aren't uniformly competent in dealing with Thai bureaucrats / police officers. Some are excellent, others intimidated, some are comfortable, others uncomfortable. Then there's the added complication of keeping the foreign husband in the loop at least to the extent necessary, organizing witnesses for house visits if required, again easier for some than for others.

I think you greatly underestimate the average Thai woman. You put together some documents and fill out some forms. The staff at immigration tell them what they have wrong. It's not that difficult.

Just don't wait until the last minute.

I remember my first visit to Thai Immigration for 90-day report:

IMM: Do you have Thai wife or Girlfriend?

Me: Girlfriend

IMM: Why isn't she here?

Me: She doesn't speak English

IMM: Oh. NEXT?

Thanks Jack

My stamp ends on the 4th of May ( exempt entry 2nd this year ).

How do they handle things like TM30, because I'm moving home at the end of this month?

If I go to immigration to update my address and they look at my passport, I imagine that would be a red flag. This is why I ask, can I update it online?

Also my Thai driving license expired 3 months ago, so I imagine I can't go to immigration for a COR, so can agents help with that issue?

posted this elsewhere and i guess u didn't read it

FIRST:
if ur going to stay and are on a visa exempt entry, ur going to need a Non o VISA , than the extension
Fees will be around 30-50,000 for 15 months, ( non O visa + 12 month extension) depending on where you are, with patttaya being the cheapest.

to issue an extension, they issue u a tm 30 in that area, so they can use that immigration
you than can get a new tm 30 if/when u move ur address
ZERO problem updating ur tm 30 to where you really live, ( done it many times) in person or online...NO red flag, they know what you did and its no big deal
agent can handle ur 90 day if u wish
U can get a cor on a visa exempt so do it now and renew ur license, you will only get 2 years
