Officials Shut Illegal Clinic in Samut Sakhon

Featured Replies

Authorities have raided and shut down an unlicensed medical clinic operating in Om Noi, Krathum Baen district, Samut Sakhon, after discovering it was treating patients without proper authorisation. The operation took place on 5 April 2026 following coordination between district officials and the provincial public health office. Several offences were identified and suspects were taken into custody for legal proceedings.

Krathum Baen district chief Pirunroj Nakdontri said officials were alerted by the Samut Sakhon Provincial Public Health Office about a clinic operating without a licence in Soi Wirunrat, Moo 2, Om Noi subdistrict. He ordered a joint inspection involving district security officers, public health officials and police from Krathum Baen Police Station. Upon arrival, officers found staff actively receiving and treating patients inside the premises.

Investigators confirmed multiple violations. These included operating a medical facility without permission under Section 16 of the Sanatorium Act B.E. 2541, running a clinic without a licence under Section 24 of the same law, selling modern medicines without authorisation under Section 12 of the Drug Act B.E. 2510, and practising medicine without a licence under Section 26 of the Medical Profession Act B.E. 2525.

Authorities gathered evidence at the scene and formally charged those responsible before transferring them to investigators at Krathum Baen Police Station for further legal action. The clinic was effectively shut down as part of the enforcement operation aimed at protecting public safety.

Officials stated that further inspections would be carried out on clinics currently operating in the area to ensure compliance with licensing requirements and medical standards. The crackdown reflects growing efforts to prevent illegal medical practices that could pose risks to patients.

Naewna reported that authorities have pledged stricter monitoring and enforcement to ensure that all healthcare providers meet legal and safety standards. The public is also urged to verify the credentials of clinics before seeking treatment to avoid potential harm.

I am left wondering if there is anything in Thailand that you can find satisfactory? If you live in Thailand I am curious about your utopian origins that seems to qualify concepts of Societal Kontrol !

I don't have any Utopian ideas. It is just that we can read almost weekly that there businesses that are operating without the necessary paperwork. Daycare centres, clinics, rental shops, barbers, even schools. My question is just how is that possible?

In my country you need to have the paperwork, and you need to go to the Chamber of Commerce and probably to the local government to ask permission and show the qualifications to start a business. There is a check and you get a yes or no. The tax office is also informed. If you need money and go to the bank, the bank will always ask for the registration of the Chamber of Commerce. Illegal businesses are being punished severely. Big fines, tax fines, results often in bankruptcy. Why is it so difficult to create a similar system here in Thailand. Foreigners are not allowed to open a business unless they have 3 Thai people who will have 51% of the shares. Rental shops of motorcycles or whatever shows that always Thai people are involved. And hiring a foreigner by a Thai business is also strict regulated. But there is no enforcement of any law in Thailand, so the people can do as they like. Until there are complaints, than the RTP will start doing something. It is not an Utopia, to have a normal working society with rules for everyone to follow. But in Thailand (foreign)people see that everything can be done, and they copy. Do in Rome as the Romans.

And yet despite the despicable lack of enforced nanny state regulations Thailand functions well enough to attract foreigners to visit for reasons of retirement, investment, tourism, and more.

Your stated preferences of regulation is more often than not what people are escaping as it progressively caters to Corporate State enforced Monopolies entrepreneurialism is stifled by compliances Corporates can afford or ignore.

In Thailand small enterprise right from street level is the backbone of social and cultural existence and every baht spent is taxed at 7.0% minimum at outset.

In "your country" you have a right to critical comment. In Thailand ?

3 rd world country, and you get what you pay for.

Stop crying and live with the choice you made.

Me, l like the lax regulations & enforcements, as keeps the size of government down, along with tax burden.

More government = more taxes.

Less government & taxes is why I'm here.

Your reasons may differ.

their country, their rules... but please make the rules for everyone and not only for foreigners.. There is a lot of work to do just to let the locals follow rules...in every way, helmets, driving, working, scamming eachother, illegal gamblings, illegal businesses. I know there several hotels that don't give the immigration the information they need, as they don't want to pay taxes. Let everything free and don't care about things or regulate and follow the rules

As stated "Their country, their rules".

Perhaps the application to foreigners is due to an attempt to satisfy the expectations of some foreigners about "rules" ?

Thai authorities are not so negligent about visas etc. Should they be ?

There would be much less problems if the Thai authorities were doing their job, and sorry for those who are refused to extend or stay... But because of the constant bending rules everything is getting a mess. I suppose you know that
