The coastal city of Da Nang in Vietnam has been recognized by Forbes as a leading destination for digital nomads and creators in 2026. The city’s appeal stems from its affordability, robust infrastructure, and relaxed coastal ambiance. These attributes position Da Nang among eight global cities ideal for digital professionals seeking a conducive environment for work and living.

Digital nomads today are prioritizing locations that offer reliable infrastructure over mere flexibility. Essential features include stable high-speed internet, co-working spaces, and long-term housing options. Forbes highlighted Da Nang’s thriving digital ecosystem, which provides access to brands, collaborators, media networks, and events that enhance both visibility and income for digital entrepreneurs.

Da Nang stands out for its cost-effective lifestyle, expanding co-working options, and vibrant cafe culture, all set against the backdrop of stunning beach surroundings. The city offers an emerging ecosystem that supports creators and digital entrepreneurs before hitting saturation, making it an attractive hub for remote workers.

Within Asia, Chiang Mai, Thailand, is also noted for its established network of resources for digital nomads, including co-working spaces and long-term accommodations. In Europe, Lisbon, Portugal, is favored for its digital nomad visa and developed infrastructure, ensuring continued appeal with its professional and cultural events.

Cape Town in South Africa combines natural beauty with improved remote-work facilities, offering a blend of lifestyle and connectivity. Medellin, Colombia, has gained traction as a remote work destination, bolstered by Colombia's two-year digital nomad visa and evolving ecosystem of co-working and creator spaces.

The U.S. features three cities: Austin, Miami, and Asheville. Austin benefits from its proximity to tech firms, and a cooling housing market has made it more accessible. Miami has become a nexus for entrepreneurs, merging creator economies with finance and business, while Asheville offers a quieter life balancing creativity with community.

Interesting list of places! Does the US offer digital nomad-type visas (B1 seems the closest)? I don't think that Vietnam does, so I'm not sure that a digital nomad can work there legally.

Forbes listing it is the final nail in the coffin I guess. Glad I got to see it before YouTubers ruined it. Prices are up quite a bit now from what I hear.
