Foreign Tourists Spark Panic With Fire Extinguisher Stunt on Pattaya Walking Street

Featured Replies

Two foreign men caused alarm on Pattaya Walking Street in the early hours of 12 April 2026 after using a dry chemical fire extinguisher to spray powder into the air, mimicking Songkran water play. The incident, which occurred at around 05:15, led to tourists fleeing the area due to concerns over potential harm from breathing the chemical substance.

A 24-second video of the incident circulated widely on social media, showing a tall male wearing a white shirt and black shorts discharging the extinguisher. The powder spread across the street, creating a cloud that affected passers-by and nearby businesses.

According to a 43-year-old motorcycle taxi rider, identified as Ms Aon, the incident began around after entertainment venues had closed. She stated that the two men appeared to have obtained the extinguisher from an unknown source and sprayed it into the sky and around them while laughing, as if participating in Songkran festivities.

Local guards and bystanders attempted to intervene and warned the men that their actions were inappropriate and unsafe. However, the pair did not stop immediately, and when someone tried to take the extinguisher away, one of the tourists allegedly pushed them before fleeing the scene.

No injuries were reported, but the chemical residue was found covering the ground, motorcycles, helmets and shop windows in the surrounding area. The substance created inconvenience and concern among those present.

The incident has drawn criticism online, with many calling for stricter enforcement against unsafe behaviour by tourists during the Songkran period. Authorities have not yet confirmed the source of the fire extinguisher or whether any charges will be filed.

The Daily News reported that officials are expected to review the footage and gather further evidence to identify those involved. Increased vigilance and safety measures may be implemented in busy tourist areas as Songkran celebrations continue.

Totally inappropriate behaviour!

Surprisingly, a quick Web search revealed that discharging a fire extinguisher in public when there is no fire isn’t specifically illegal in Thailand, unless it’s tied to another offence.

Still, what these tourists did on Walking Street was disruptive.

Even if there’s no standalone law against releasing an extinguisher without a fire, there are still several existing offences that could apply to this pair.

Thai police commonly use public nuisance, and theft (if the extinguisher was taken from a venue without permission). They also could apply Section 397 of the Criminal Code, which covers behaviour that causes “fright or trouble to the public.”

At a minimum, these guys should be held accountable. Pattaya already struggles with its reputation, and stunts like this don’t help anyone.

You don't want to inhale dry chem extinguisher dust. Pig ignorant nationalities shouldn't be permitted to travel, even to Pattaya.

The behave the same way in their homelands. There are never any consequences, so they keep at it. Thailand would be doing a public service if they caught and held them accountable through cost of clean up and deportation for being undesirable.

Songcran is supposed to be a happy celebration and and all the ones that I attended there were people being a bit silly but harmless fun but there was one that stands out. That was when I was in the old Golden Bar at Nana Hotel one year and everybody was having fun , loud music playing and all the ladies dancing. Across the road at the Nana Plaza it was a smilar scene. The traffic in Soi 4 was busy and an old man in a ute loaded with market stall gear stopped in front of us and 2 total idiot drunken foreigners suddenly jumped up on the bonnet and roof of the truck .The old Thai man got out and challenged them.Within 15 seconds about 6 security guards jumped from the Plaza bars and took control and got these idiots down and bashed and kicked the sh@t out of them. A motorbike cop turned up but just watvhed on and let local justice prevail. They were carted off to hospital the worse for wear to the cheers of the crowd.I bet they didn't do that again

I can assure you, if I was walking by and he did that to me, I would be at Soi 9....,and he would be in the hospital.

Where do these people keep their brains? Or do they have brains?

I guarantee it wasn't the first beating they ever got, and it won't be the last. You can't fix stupid. And you especially can't teach drunks how to behave while drunk. Not even with a beating, which they probably won't even remember when they wake up in the hospital.

I haven’t lived in Pattaya for 14 years

Pathetic, immature behaviour. A spell retained in police custody followed by a large fine should be the minimum penalty for these idiots.

Do you really believe Pattaya is a life?

Well it’s better than boring Chiang Rai. 🤷🏼

This dangerously idiotic. The chemicals in a Fire Extinguisher can be extremely corrosive and toxic. Any Firefighter exposed to a discharge i must be IMMEDIATELy removed and decontaminated to prevent chemical burns which may result in permanent injury or disfigurement.
